We had these before when F2P could not equip Fabled items, this may be a good balance letting F2P players unlock a prestige item for a token fee ($1? $2?), but any time they get an upgrade, they have to decide whether it's worth unlocking.

Keeps an incentive for subscribers, while also letting F2P have a chance to use some of the great items.

If they did so it would likely end up the exact same way F2P would end up being able to equip them without unlockers after a while. it's there to put the screws to those that have money but aren't spending it on a subscription and rewarding people that do subscribe by adding some extra value to membership.

I say revert back to when free to play could only wear legendary gear and use expert spells. Put the gear tokens back on the marketplace.

It's worked in EQ1 for a few years now. People can advance through the tiers of equipment up to a certain point.

My one disagreement with this is tagging the sig line rewards as prestige, especially when they're already relic. It's a little too soon.
