View Full Version : Boxing Question

I have decided to break down and buy a 2nd computer so I can box a healer with my currently level 63 Bruiser. Im planning on just mentoring my bruiser down with the healer until I can get the healer up enough levels to actually help. So the last couple of days I have been trying to decide which healer class would best suit me. I have been leaning alot towards a fury because they seem to be fairly decent at healing and some dps. I like that they get group invis and the damage shield is a nice litle bonus. However I got alot of people telling me I should roll a Defiler/Mystic to dou with. I have to admit a shammy does seen custom fit for a avoidance tank with their slows and wards and such.

I have messed around with both a Fury and Defiler on the Isle of Refuge (Getting them both to level 6) I know thats not much to go on but it gave me a general idea of what the classes are like. I still like the fury better just because it seems to plow through mobs a little quicker. I do realize though that when Im boxing my bruiser will be tanking and it will be his dps that will be killing the mobs so I see where the shamen might be the better choice to keep my bruiser safe. Anyway I was wondering what other people thought? Am I crazy to be thinking of going with a fury instead of the shammy? Will either choice really make that big of a difference?

Message Edited by Kowl on 05-02-2006 07:17 PM

Once you get your healer toon off of newbie island is his/her dps really going to matter ever?

Group invis is nice but totems do the job better than a furies limited 3 min group invis.

I think you should go for the best support character that's going to help you take on hard mobs and plow through others (that's what you want right?)

Shaman gets my vote.

Shaman for sure. I have boxed all three healer types and I can say without question its the easiest. I know there is alot more to these classes but for me they tend to end up being a 3 button healers. Warden was real nice but so much work casting up all the different regens and templars hp buffs/big heals rocked but when it comes down to it ward/slow/ward couldnt be easier and effective in my experience.

Proh 70 Bruiser

The Bazaar Server

I box a defiler while a bruiser friend i know uses a fury. Yea fury will bring more dps to the table for you. But i wouldn't trade my defiler for anything due to a few reasons. Thier single target debuffs are pry one of the best among healers. I use the eagle shriek AA. Most of the time when i box/mentor my defiler i keep myself at 20-30% health at all times giving me 97% chance for crits which I think does more dps than a fury can do. Also defiler (with AA) gives a small amount of group haste to even out my haste/dps numbers. With this combo and AA set up i've been able to cut down even heriocs like butter and kill yellow names pretty easy when i got the strat down Oh a minor note is its handy having a boxed toon with a run speed buff. Our 5% AA might suck but its just fast enough to be annoying. If you AF a 0% run speed on you your keep gaining more ground making train>FD situations harder. Also going across large distances you'll get far enough away where your AF cuts out.

Message Edited by PhozFate on 05-02-2006 06:23 PM
