According to the description on Ghostly Wraps of Torment, the heal only has a 10% chance to go off if a death blow is struck. In other words, if you were going to die, you have a 10% chance of getting healed. If that is true, then the Queens Carapace is the superior chest piece in my opinion.
Message Edited by Teaen Arcarius on 04-24-2006 02:06 PM

I really should ammend my post to say that the baby blue look of the Gi is nearly as bad as a pink tunic.

Get the Queens Carapace, add in some Manacles of Dark Sky, maybe the Twisted Wildwood pants from Gates, and you've got yourself quite the fashion statement of what a Bruiser should *NOT* look like :smileytongue:

somewhat curious as to what will be hitting you for 2500+ dmg at that lvl. I dont personally have the gi but if its like the mage robe for mana its when you kill a mob not when a mob kills you. But again i dont have it so dont have the description infront of me.

I personally wear the claymore bp the soaked guard of X for a pure looks reason. The stats work out to about a push and i don't have a purple chest and green pants looking like some peter pan freak. At 66 I would advice working on the claymore line may as well level up while doing it.

Proh 70 Bruiser

The Bazaar Server

The ghostly wraps of torment proc when YOU do a deathblow... which means when YOU kill something, not when you are going to be killed.

I've had it proc once in a while... when I kill something. It's % is correct, you guys are just looking at the wrong time for when it's supposed to go off.

I got the Ghostly Wraps, because I could get em fairly cheap and they are pretty good stats for offensive mode. I will, however, get a queen's carapace for when I want to tank, simply because it's better stats for tanking. And it's dirt cheap, i see them going for 40 gold.

T7 seems to be all about gear sets, moreso than ever before. I have full sets of resist jewelry for that reason. I have a staff i use for tanking (AoE ability from Wis line helps keep aggro), and some dual wielding weapons i use for DPS.

The look, I'm not such a fan of... the queen's carapace is bordering psychadelic. The ghostly wraps are powder blue, and have the wrestler outfit look (not the barechested look that would have saved it).

I changed my scales (iksar) to basilisk with an ash grey/white belly look. I'm told with my ghostly wraps I look like some kind of ice lizard. Oh well... at least I'm not getting "blue suede gi's" jokes.

I personally use the claymore bp, but between the carapace and the gi, it's the carapace ftw. The mitigation difference between the 2 is massive and the procs on the gi is basically cosmetic. I swap between the claymore bp and the carapace if the resists on the carapace are required, the gi is just another gi in the collection!

Anjin

I have both, I wear the ghostly wraps when I'm DPSing and the Queens when MTing or want to look good (female Barb). The Ghostly give me about nine to Attack rating and 5 to STR over the Queens. Queens is .9 % more Mit while Ghostly are 0.3% more Avoidance.

Kasa

Kalem wrote:

Raidi Sovin'faile wrote:

The ghostly wraps of torment proc when YOU do a deathblow... which means when YOU kill something, not when you are going to be killed.

I've had it proc once in a while... when I kill something. But, it was the best that could be gotten easily at the time. And to the OP, go with the Carapace. Yes, it looks, weird, but its worth the look for now until you can get either the claymore line tunic from Sanctum, or score lucky on a Premonition Mantle coming out of one of the reward chests at the end of Halls of Fate.

I have the queen's carapace and I love the look! I have the pink boots from Gates to go with it!I also have manacles of dark sky and zhardiz' leggings. I don't like the look of the legs, I've been doing HoF trying to get Endbringer leggings but so far no luck.

Ok, I'm gonna wreck this thread again. Can anyone tell me where I can get the Manacles of Dark Sky mentioned in this thread? They are 4p on my broker and Google has precious little info on them.

Wow.. old thread. Might be a good idea to just make a new one?Anyways.. Manacles are from the Skywatcher named at the far end of the Temple island in Tenebrous. He is standing on this little ledge, and you have to clear the droag around him to activate him.

If you prefer DD style, use the Gi, if you have to tank, the Carapace is the first choice.

Im not gonna lie I wear the ghostly wraps purely for looks, but they are gorgeous! The carapace I keep around and toss on as garbage gear when say I am the bait on a DT run or need that extra cold resist for some named.

Good thing about the wraps is the extra +4 defense and uhh uhh they look good?
