View Full Version : Two quick Bruiser questions
There's a couple of things I have been wondering about my bruiser. First off, at lvl 42 which I am, how important is it to get master moves? I've always heard that the mages really need to upgrade the spells, not really fighters but I wanted to make sure. Secondly, I've been a tank many times and my big concern now is keeping the aggro. I know the tank classes like paladin and guardian have more aggro moves yet I still only have my two taunts. I realize that some people that I group with never focus on just one enemy, but I would like still keep aggroas best as possible. Is there any other moves that I can use, as a Bruiser, that can help me keep the aggro? After I use my taunts, I also use my heal to keep the focus on me but maybe there's something else I should use.

The difference in skills from adept 1 to adept 3 is pretty large. Adept 3's are pretty cheap as well per tier compared to master 1's. Though Master 1's are the way to go if you are able.

Secondly, I've been a tank many times and my big concern now is keeping the aggro. Group agro takes some practice. I generally pull with my AOE taunt, hit my single target taunt to keep the guy everyone is assisting you on locked and then hit both my AOE's to make sure the adds are locked. If you get both you taunts master 1'd as well as your AOE's you should rarely loose agro (Caster AOE's may be a little bit harder to hold agro against, but if they just calm it down a bit you should be fine).

You also have a Taunt proc on one of your buffs, ensure that you have this on when tanking and OFF when not tanking). TAB is your friend as a leather tank, if a wizard pisses and moans about you switching targets, then tell them to get aclue and make an assist key. I often will do exactly what the poster above mentioned, but I also cycle through mobs using TAB, I have had enough practice that I can cycle through mobs, get a taunt or a mezz off before anyone actually hits the mob I switch too. Takes some practice, must be facing all the mobs in set, but works great)

Example: Set of three mobs, pull with AE taunt, single target taunt the primary target, get them in position, TAB, KB CA, TAB KB CA, TAB your back on the first mob, and should be close to dead. We actually hold some [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] good agro if you play with your tools and learn how each of them work on building hate.

One day: Wizard Says "Hey you switching targets like that is going to ge me killed"

I reply " No your lazyness in not making an assist key is going to get yourself killed!"

He made an assist key and life went on.) In most cases its ok to attack through your MT/MA but in all honesty your 10x better of with an assist key, good tanks swap to the next target when the current one is betwen 5% and 3% health, so assist key is your friend.

One last thing: Forgot to mention, that by using an asist key, you have the mob targeted and not the MT, this way you can tell when/if the mob changes target. As a Bruiser I find its my job to help save casters. In this event, you can rescue, taunt, stan on MT, FD, he will get agro usually after their first taunt. That or you can mezz/fear etc... I take price in keeping coercers alive when they charm big nasty beasts, like Zerkers in HoF) OMG FTMW those make crazy pets! High hit 20k, DPS for a fight can be insane high like 12k :p
