View Full Version : AA Advice For PvP Tankin' Bruiser

I'm now a 46 Bruiser on Venekor and have - almost by accident - become the highest level tank in my guild. In my old incarnation on Lucan I used to thrive on the off-tank/DPS/soloing role but now it seems as though I may have to concentrate on out and out tanking. In addition to this different approach, I'm trying to figure out which AAs will help me best in PvP.

Sadly my brain isn't really configured for this sort of calculation, but here's my thinking thus far:

The WIS line seems like the best option for the tanking PvP-er as it offers more immunities/resists AND good AoE attacks for squishing Qeynosians who've fallen victim to your taunts and/or blundered into melee range. If I can resist as many stuns, stifles, roots as possible, then I can draw my opponents to me and AoE 'em whilst giving my party a better chance to do their various things. I'm assuming here of course that most of my PvP will be group and not solo based. I can solo pretty well - but I'm sick of running into groups of Qeynos who don't seem to like soloing as much as I do...:smileywink:

However, as I said, i'm not really very good at this kind of thinking, plus it goes against my nature to turn down damage-dealing (those crtitical hit AAs look good).

Anyway, I'd really appreciate some input from either other PvP addicts or just clever Bruisers who understand this sort of crap.

Thanks

OTBBFIPCPS1987

I would say off the top of my head that STA, WIS, AGI would be best for tanking. This may not be completely accurate as I have not done alot of research on the subject and my bruiser is only level 54 I'm probably one of the rare few people that focus on AGI then Stamina as a bruiser but I am rarely main tank. Only reason I choose agility is because I can use dual wield and my timers go down which allow me to taunt, spam everything more. This also turns out to be a problem at times due to power but has worked out well in most situations. My Avoidance in groups is 73-75% with this build and solo can be as high as 69.7% in defensive stance.

PvP tanking bruiser... Hrmm... I'd mostly have to agree with Glumlord. If the int line didn't require fist weapons I'd change Wis for Int, but as is: I'd go with Agi 48, Sta 4487, Wis 448Nice defences, faster recasts and a procing machine. Can lock down someone for good unless they have a hate position deaggro. Can play around with these though. Or you can stack your defences (here's my SWG side showing up. Loved to fool around with different templates, fencer pistoleer anyone? ) and go with: Sta 5488 and Int 4488. Totally up to you mate.

Once my bruiser gets higher, I will be more then likey off tanking for my guild at raids. I think I will be going AGI 4 4 4 8 8, int 4 4 5 8 0. I like having the ability to fd the main tank in raids if he ends up dying, also put my extra point into defence I think is the best place for that last point to go. Any other suggestions on tanking aas would be greatly appreciated.

What do people think we be better for tanking parry, deflect or defence?

Message Edited by wally501 on 04-06-200609:28 AM

Parry most definately.. I believe Riposte is based off your parry so it would have two effect (Raising Defense, and Riposte)

But a bruiser in PvP as a tank should be a good mix of defence and offense so I think what I posted is a good spec. But like I said, you can play around with that to see what will be more efficient.
