Can't help ya with PvP, but here's my view on the stances and their uses, coming from a level 70Defensive stance: Good for tanking, especially named mobs. It does raise your avoidance, and gives some kind of a boost to mitigation. However, it will lower your melee skills, lowering your chance to hit mobs, especially ones that are yellow or higher. I'm not sure at what level they get these buffs, but I do know that Wardens have a good buff to melee skills, as do Templars, but not nearly as effective. When I'm tanking in a group with a solo warden, I usually go defensive stance. Also, in the rare chance that I need a big boost to poison mitigation, I use this stance.Mixed stance: Also good for tanking, especially when there are two healers in the group. It gives some boost to physical and poison mitigation, and defensive skills, as well as the fire damage proc and some melee skill increases. I use this stance when soloing heroics, for the most part (might switch to defensive if things are tricky) This stance offers a good balance of offense and defense. If you can hit the mob better, your aggro-holding ability will also be higher, which is good.Offensive stance: Big melee skill boost, twice the chance to proc as mixed stance, but lowers your defensive skills. Great to use when you're not the main tank. It allows you to reliably hit mobs that are yellow, and even orange. Not recommended for tanking, although some bruisers on the forums are going to disagree with me here. That's my views. Please feel free to ask for some elaboration.<div></div>

I go by the theory that its better go as offensive as possible in your current situation. When tanking i'll use Off stance or 50/50 stance just about every single time. I only use def on tough fights, or if we got alot of adds. Def mode on oranges is kinda useless. Avd means nothing cause your gonna get hit the same amount as a plate tank and you won't be able to hit the mob to build agro due to off skills being lowered. 50/50 stance is good for oranges. there is diffrences to your stances while at lower levels you may not notice it (i belive with the old system i went thou i had 1 stance till like 30s and the 3rd at 44) there are diffrences<div></div>
