Ya kow thats the problem here I think. What we think a bruiser should be, and what SOE deisgn staff for EQ2 is telling us they are. I like the bruiser class, but your right it is too monk like. the only thing that seperates us is CA skill names, and a different city. There is no particular lore about bruisers, there is no differeation of class and subclass gear, graphically it is all the same.CA's and fluff aside, my feelings are, if they want us to be a monk like class, make us some type of evil monk class. If they want to keep us bruisers, give us some visual differentationousness (i made that up), so that we aren't monks living in Freeport.

There is lore on bruisers read up on the dreadnaughts of freeport or the Ashen Disciples in PoF. (The ashen order is the monk type faction.)

To make it easier let me explain it like this we are not biker dudes or the town drunk. In game we are monks with a different philisophy. We are the resultl of a philisophical split. we abandoned the virtues of tranquility and wisdom and opted for strength and disipline. We deny the exsistance of the old gods and seek to gain greater power through strength at arms. We are a gang of thugs that act as the overlords enforcers. We pride ourselves on strength and intimidation. zWe are the Overlords enforcers who control the streets and alleyways.

In todays terms we are martial artists who are not afriad to use thier skills to intimidate people or get ahead. Whereas monks are those who want peace and tranquility, seeking enlightment and wisdom. Only using thier skills when necessary.

We all aspire to be the greatest bruiser of them all Chuck Norris. If you wanted to be Bruce Lee you should of went monk. If you wanted to be madmax you should of been a brigand.

Just remeber Chuck Norris kicked Bruce Lee's [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn].

Well then that makes more sense.I still would rather have a darker look to our gear then get the same exact look of the monk..plus I want my bat with a nail

And thugs, martial-artists or otherwise, wouldn't be caught dead in the monk gear they have for bruisers. The clothing they wear in the Mad Max flicks is infinitely more in-line with what bruisers should look like. Black studded leather versus purple silk gi leftover from a [Removed for Content] pride parade? I'll go with the black leather thanks.

Message Edited by Halsy01 on 03-06-200604:47 PM

naw Chuck wore Kiekogi and Hakama's the typical kung fu gear. Basicaly a long skirt and loose wrapped robe. Sorry but dominatrix style spiekd leather biker gear is more brigand oriented to me then a bruiser. Dont let the name fool you thats just "flavor". We are martial artists and tight leather outfits w studs and spikes are generally to constricting. Silk shirts were generally worn underneath the plate or scaled armours to prevent chaffing and promote mobility. Like it or not game lore and gear says we are monks (martial artists) and not bikers. We just happen to be the evil version. Personally i would like to see Kimonos and head bands maybe even the kiekogi and hakama's typical kung fu masters wear. Lets leave the monks to thier rice caps and robes.
Edit: to be exact in real life Ninja's would be considered the evil martial artist, generally a martial artist for hire. Although this is taken from a different culture (japan) and would opposite of samauri. Monks who are typically seen from northern asia (china/tibet). Now considering this is a fantasy game. we don't need to follow any of this. Me personally i dont want the biker look. i woudl rather have more of a cleaner Gladiator type look. Since that wont happen and brawlers will always share the same gear. I rather them just add the items that i stated above added.

Message Edited by Gungo on 03-06-200606:17 PM

I have to agree with Gungo here, I was not thinking biker bar bruser either when I made mine. No, I do not want the purple (I love this) [Removed for Content] pride parade leftovers, but a Gi that was more like our new newbee outfit is cool, a rough looking Gi, or perhaps one similar to the monk types out there but black, or dark blue... somthing a bit more sinister. Especialy with PvP, we need to look differant.

When you say leather with spikes I think of SouthPark's Mr Slave! Please dont make us look like that. I would prefer the Bruce Lee look myself, as that is my idea of what a Bruiser is. Simple, efficient, and at least in line with the lore.

ok here is a real life bruiser so maybe bruisers just should have a hide armor option or something

The "dragon" armor is pretty badass and would look great on a bruiser.

I know this is all a matter of personal taste and we all have different ideas of what looks good what doesn't. The fact is that we have "monk" gear for bruisers and monks as it is, I just want to see a different look expanded for those of us who really don't agree with what we consider to be monk gear on a bruiser.

Message Edited by Halsy01 on 03-07-200605:25 PM

Cheap shots while filming dont count, i was referrign to actual competition events were chuck norris beat bruce lee. If anything bruce breaking chucks leg shows a lack of control in technique.

btw the link you provided is not martial art gear its 5 and 6th century european armour. In fact many of that gear is made specifically for archers or serfs. I do liek the russel crowe gladiator look like i said, but that will not happen. We will always share the same gear as monks. Stayign with in those boundaries i woudl rather they not only made gi's but included more kimono type armour, maybe instead of pure vest type armour we can include the gladiator armour w/o sleeves etc. o yeah and headbands

Message Edited by Gungo on 03-07-200604:01 PM

Been trying to think what would sum up a Bruiser & there you have it, a Muay Thai fighter ! That should be the maodel perhaps ?With CA's along the lines of more elbows. knees & straight forward thrust kicks rather than roundhouse style because at the moment it doesn't seem a real lot of differance.( My Bruiser is only Lvl 30 & my Monk is Lvl 47 but very similar )Ofcourse keep the shoulder slam & maybe add a headbutt would be good.Maybe even a lighter chainmail mesh could be introduced for Bruisers ( wishful thinking again ) as well as black leather fingerless gloves with sharp studs, for slashing piercing ,the have stats but is almost like going un-armed and a necklace of the ears from our victims would look good too ! :smileyvery-happy:

When i think of bruiser gear it really should be similar to monk gear but a bit mroe grungy.http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=screen&message.id=19477That thread has a nice hand drawn pic of a female bruiser/monk and i think the attire fits them both perfect. Screw MGs padded vest look I'd much rather have the gi type outfit in that thread
