<div>Heya im a new player coming form SWG/WoW. Im curious about bruisers, are they offen needed in groups/raids as main tanks? I love bruisers alot because they reminded me of TKM in SWG. but I really dont enjoy main tanking at all. Off tanking is fine though but I'll love to just dish out damage.</div>

<div></div>Best vs heroic tank (aka groups). In raids we do fine, although we generally aren't the tank of choice (usually Guardians/Zerkers are).  But we can tank *if* needbe.

I think Phayax summed it up pretty well but if you don't enjoy tanking at all and like dishing out damage maybe you should consider a scout class.<div></div>

Against Golems with my master rage running I'm able to consistently deal about 160 dps at level 34 in RoV. A semi-twinked level 30 Assassin was not keeping up, but his poison was bugged.

Number 2 you did have 4 levels on him. Rov golems are what lvl 30-33? So they were white/yellow to him and blue almost green to you? Number 3 master rage is situational and even if your fighting those certain mobs you can't keep it up 100% of the time so i feel that shouldn't count. Also i have a feeling you were tanking. I'm sure your parser started the time when you started doing damage before he tried to hit the mob. I think MT get a little advantage in parsers. My point still is bruisers aren't horrid dps (single target is the strong point) but if you don't wanna tank at all and just wanna do dps go with a class thats better at it.On a side note this one time in scorn my SK was beating a ranger in dps on my parser. But i realize if that ranger wanted to he could embarass me on the numbers <span>:smileywink:</span></span><div></div><p>Message Edited by PhozFate on <span class="date_text">02-15-2006</span><span class="time_text">04:26 AM</span></p>

<div></div>Not sure we'd be the tanks of choice, but I've tanked in RE for the last 2-3 nights and we don't seem to have a problem.   If you the gear I think you'll be okay.

<div>In any EXP group were a fantastic tank. </div><div> </div><div> Raids we do better versus mobs that are mostly melee.... but especially better versus mobs a few levels below us.  I can T5 raids with a single healer. </div>

Everyone always answers these based on how well bruisers can do the job, and I've grouped with enough as a healer to know that there's no issue for bruisers or monks in regular grouping. But what about prejudice? What about how often they're allowed to? I play gnomes and ratongas mostly and I've had people who wanted to pass me over for another tank who was 2 levels lower and had nowhere near my mitigation. But he was a barbarian! And a guy! Obviously a better tank than the gnome girl. And that's just a visual difference. If a bruiser is the highest tank, do you get a chance to do your thing or do you get veto'd for someone who might not be as good just cause "guardians tank" or that kind of thing?<div></div>

<div></div><p>I agree that preconceptions about bruisers/monks can be a problem with some people. Admittedly, most players do seem to be coming around to the idea that these tanks are, in fact, REAL tanks and have no problem with them. You do still have some though that view bruisers and monks as nothing but ok dps that can take a hit if the main tank loses aggro.</p><p>2 situations come to mind illustrating the only problems I've ever had with bruisers. I was playing a 25 bruiser and was in a group heading into the lower levels of Stormhold. The leader of the group kept saying he wanted to find a tank before we went in or we'd be slaughtered. I kept reminding him that I WAS a tank and that we'd be fine. After a few minutes with no luck he relented and said, well, ok, we could try it but he wanted to start on greens to see how things went. Well, after abour a 4 hour run and regularly killing high yellows and a few low oranges along with whatever named mobs got in  our way with only 2 deaths (due to healers getting lost heh) he admitted that he had no idea bruisers could tank so well and that he'd love to have me tank for his groups any time. So as long as they give you a chance and you can show them what you can do, you're ok.</p><p>The other situation was last night. I was playing a 35 troubador and was in a RE group that had no tank. We finally saw a 33 monk looking for group and asked him to join us. He flat out told us "I can't tank. Sorry. I'm more dps. But I could try, just not sure how good I'd do." Since we'd already been xping for over an hour with no issues we decided to just let this monk go dps somewhere else since his lack of confidence had us worrying about how he would play. Here you have some monks/bruisers that will tell you they're not tanks. They've basically bought in to all the trash that people talked about the two classes early on. If you're playing one of these classes and you've never even TRIED to tank, then I tend to think you really didn't know what the class was for when you picked it.</p><p>Oh, and in that RE group, we had a 37 assassin tank for us all night and things worked out great. Strangest group I've ever been in but one of the most fun too.</p><p>But yeah, bruisers make great tanks for groups it's mainly the mindset of other players you have to work around. The only issue I've ever had/seen is that it's harder for bruisers to maintain aggro on group encounters than it would be for zerks or guardians. Once you learn how to work it, it's no problem but it does take more active involvement on the players part to keep those mobs on you. They're one of the best at single target aggro, though.</p>

<div></div><p>Man that is strange because to be honest with you I think Monks make better tanks than Bruisers, going off of pure stats here.  I normally duo with a 38 Monk and he always tanks for us.   We've tried different buffs etc, remember is just us two, and he always has a higher Mit and Avoidance, and I always have a higher DPS and attack rating.  We are baiscally twinkies when it comes to gear and spell levels as well. all Legendary all Adpt 3 or higher.  In fact now that I think about it, we are your perfect case study between Monks and Bruisers.  :smileyhappy:</p><p>Truth be told, when we duel it's always close but i'm still in the lead....not by much though. </p>

<div>In regards as to which tank would often get chosen first</div><div> </div><div>In the Guard forums someone started a post asking which was the best of the DPS tanks, i told them that the Bruiser/Monk were the best DPS tank based classes.</div><div> </div><div>He told me they were on about "real tanks"</div><div> </div><div>Hmm noob?</div>

<div></div><div>Dunno but a zerker seriously rocks ATM ! I never have a problem getting a group , normally only group with guildies TBH but dont mind a good pickup group for a nice grind every now and then too. </div><div> </div><div>Most pickup groups think they need to find a tank when you are grouped with them ;/ ! until u politely remind them that I CAN TANK and them smack them in the face in true brusier style .. after the grinding the normal impression is holly crap you guys sure rock at tanking /shrug :smileyvery-happy:</div>

<div>Cant say much that aint been said already.</div><div>as a 60 bruiser modestly equipped I most off tank in raid situations. I will use imbued T6 gear for that and swith to different gear and stances for resistis.</div><div>For xp grinds a bruiser does great with a single healer. Even with the changes SoE has rammed down our throats I still really love my bruiser.</div>
