Hey everyone,

I've got a level 13 newby bruiser and I just love him. I think I'm having the most fun with him out of all my toons. I have been running thru the suburb quests to get the hang of my new toon. One thing I've noticed tho' is the lack of decent leather armor rewards from these quests. I've found a few pieces, such as the bracers from the Typhoneus' Blackmail quest, but am having trouble finding quested pieces (quested since I'm low on cash) for the chest, legs, and shoulders. Does anyone know of any quests that drop armor for these slots comparable to the bracers I mentioned earlier that can be solo'd by a 13 bruiser?

Also...I've decided for roleplaying purposes to use only fist weapons (cestus, cestii, wraps, and knuckles). To me (and this is just my opinion) they seem more bruiser-like than batons or quarter staffs. I wanted to my bruiser to be the hulking Ogre who wades into the mobs roaring while swinging haymakers. I know cestus and cestii do slashing and piercing damage (or vice versa) and I think both knuckles and fistwraps do crushing damage. My questions are am I going to be limiting myself too much weapons-wise with this choice and are the damage and stats comparable between these types of weapons and the wooden types like batons, etc.? Thanks for any replies.

I'm not sure about mid-teens quests for leather drops - used to be I'd get my traning armor at level 10 for making my subclass and use it til 20, so I didn't bother overmuch.

As to gimping yourself by not using staffs/bos/clubs, etc - you'll be fine. As long as you keep a hand-to-hand weapon of each type available for different mobs, you are good to go. AFAIK all now use the same fighting skill, so no more swapping out to keep Pierce up with Slash, etc.

Most mobs which resist certain damage types you won't encounter til later levels. You could probably go from 1-40 no problem with just one type of cestii/wrap, etc.

Not sure about the upper levels, but crafted wraps and stuff (particularly the rares) are very good weapons. You won't get as many drops for them as you would for some staves and bos, etc, but from what I have seen, good ones for Bruisers don't drop often anyhow. Your best weapons will, unless you are lucky, or go for the Heirophant's Crook HG, be player-made rares.

If I'm wrong, I'm open to correction - this is what I can recollect t the moment. Enjoy, bruisers are fun, indeed.

Message Edited by Wargod1968 on 02-14-200610:30 AM

As far as pre-20 armor goeth, I would go ahead and buy the cheap stuff off the Tailors in your neighborhood, which will last ye fine till you get AQ stuff. Gives real decent mit but no buffs come with, but as you quest if you find something just swap it out...but a full set of the stuff will give you quite good mit fer real cheap. Also, don't blow much money on CA's because you will be blowing trough them so fast...wait til 20. Don't go any higher than app4 unless you see a killer deal at broker or on the Black Market(which is located on the little isle off the dock of East Freeport.

So anyway, hope that helps ye....I didn't have any money eather till a high lvl friend dropped me close to a plat! hehe But up until then, I was broke as could be.

BTW...edit....the tailor I am referring to is the AI not player tailors. You can find them right in your home town...as an Ogre, you are in Big Bend I guess I am am sure you will have one there somewhere...if not go to Scale Yard and there is one there.

Message Edited by Pnaxx on 02-14-200611:40 AM

if your still in mid teens, the quests in the ruins for the militia i think offers a really nice chest piece that you can you into you mid 20s. its cloth i think but has really nice stats for the level and decent mitigation. you may need to group to finish tho
