View Full Version : When to upgrade weapons
<DIV>Hey guys,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm fairly new to EQ2 and currently playing a 22 Ratonga Bruiser. I'm trying to determine when the best time to upgrade weapons is and how to factor in gleaming strike to weapon efficiency.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For example, I have a level 10 duelwield baton that has the gleaming strike proc and 8.4dps, but I do not know if that is better then a level 20 12.5 baton without the proc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Are there any formulas to determine the effectiveness of a imbued weapon vs a non-imbued?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My main char was a level 32 guardian, but I never got enough good stuff with that character to determinie it, since it was my main and I could rarely afford a good weapon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Always upgrade your weapons every 10 levels (at the minimum). If you're using level 10 weapons in your 20s, you aren't pulling out the damage you COULD be doing. The reason is because each weapon has a max damage capacity with autoattack (which is where a lot of damage comes from). If you go back and check your damage with a level 10 weapon at say, 50, you'll see that you do the same damage you would have done at 10 with that weapon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gleaming strike is good, but weapon tier is more important</DIV><p>Message Edited by psubullet on <span class=date_text>11-16-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:19 PM</span>
<P>Thanks for the reply. </P> <P>I ended up mining for about 5 hours :o to get 2 steel clusters and had 2 level 20 steel maces made and imbued. The guy who made them said the legondary/imbued are good for 20 levels instead of 10, would you agree?</P> <P> </P>

I'd agree to a point . . Basicly Legendary items are higher end items from point which you can use them.. For instance, lvl40 Imbued cedar quarter staves. These will still con while to you when you inspect them at lvl55, thats 15 levels above base use level of 40. However, the weapons themselves stop growing as much at lvl50. The nice thing about this is that you can inturn get two main weapons for general use made every 10 levels, and keep a pair of others for diff dmg types for those times. Myself I have some lvl30 cestus and cestii thats not imbued for when i run into an crush immune mob. But i use Ironwood quarter staves for normal use. Other side of the coin of weapons is thier stats. Stats don't grow, and a weapon thats 20 level lower will have alot less stats then a higher level one. Take again Cedar vrs ironwood. The cedar ones give 10sta and 10agi, but the ironwood ones give 10sta 9agi 9str. Thats 2 less str and agi for the set, but 20 sta more. Thats a big big difference in way of hp also. Cause the higher level you get, the harder things hit, so need your stats up to offset this also. Basicly just upgrade every10-11 levels, or as you can, infact generaly you'll have 2 levels to harvest on your own before you need to upgrade anyhow, like you can harvest t6 at lvl48 and by time you reach 50 and able to use t6 weapons you could have harvested two ironwood to make yourself two. <div></div>
<DIV>Killer information. Thanks a bunch!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was not even aware they had crush immune mobs in the game, so I'll make sure to keep my eyes open for some cheap cestus also.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
