Anyone have an idea if bruiser taunts are based on poison checks against the mobs they are taunting? In other words, are our taunts more likely to fail against mobs that have huge poison resists?

Reason I'm asking this is because I saw a post where some guardians are speculating their taunts are mental based and some pallies are saying their taunts are divine based. A pally friend of mine said his taunt also has a divine debuff aspect to it. We all know certain mobs are more suceptible to certain kinds of damage due to their inate resists (fire/cold/mental/divine/poison/etc).

I'm wondering, if in an attempt to level the fighter classes out, there are now inherent resistances to each fighter's stance and to go along with that each fighter's taunt has a specific type of resist check to it. Any thoughts?

Message Edited by Xandezz on 10-27-2005 01:33 PM

me either, but in theory tuants have to check soem type of resist in order to be resisted. I do miss LUCY the spell database from eq1. The only way we can check this is get a class that debuffs poisen and parse resists. But really the devs should of listed the resist type on the spell. Remeber also different tiers of taunts can have different resists as well. I can only presume Rescue is magic based. Shout is mental etc.

Taunts are Mental Based.

However, Most fighters have some extra components to their taunts, such as our AoE Taunt interrupts encounter also, and our single target taunts can be used while stunned.

I believe Palladin's Taunts deal damage as well as taunt, divine dmg to be specific. Some other classes Taunts are also debuffs, and what not. Hope that clears things up.

agh that will answer the question why palleis think thier taunts are divine based. But since the components of a spell can be seperated such as taunt = mental and dd = divine. How then does it answer the claim by people that brawlers taunts work on terrorantual whereas guards taunts don't? How come rescue lands more often then other taunts? And as a lower tier spell.
Message Edited by Gungo on 10-28-2005 12:16 PM

I honestly don't think thats true at all. I have had my rescue Master 1 get resisted by Terrorantula, as well as my regular taunts. Maybe they think we have better taunts because we have more damage dealing, combines with Quarrell we can usually grab aggro at the beginning alot better.
