<DIV>What are your tactics? I haven't done much dueling, the only class that was troublesome was a SK, but he had all legendary gear while I didn't. Anyhow, I normally start with a slow weapon (for the procs) and offensive stance on, use our stun lines, last dirty punch followed by one hundred slap line. Oh, and I make sure I put thundering fists up before 100 slap. That should be some nice damage inficted on him. Then comes the mezz, if it sticks cast hex doll to slow down their attacks and switch to defensive stance. Wait for the stun lines to refresh, rinse and repeat and throw a heal in there too...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Against high dps scouts I start off with the defensive stance.</DIV> <DIV>Also something to remember is:</DIV> <DIV>-Always have cerebral will on mind</DIV> <DIV>-Our group taunt has an interupt in it, use it!</DIV> <DIV>-Fear is your friend</DIV> <DIV>-Use your heal as soon as you're down to how much it heals (about 70% health)</DIV> <DIV>-For clerics, wait for the reactive to wear off</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any other tips/tricks?</DIV>

This looks like a great thread to sticky, since Rajjinn came along.   Since I have not Dueled yet, or jumped in the arena with my guy, I cant add any good info.  If we can get tactical info about other classes, should be a nice bruisers guide to...well, bruising.  Then again others can just use the tactics against us. <div></div>

<div></div>One can easily take down a wizard +) I occasionally duel a wizard friend of mine on Kith server and in the beginning it was 50/50 due to his frostshield (think it was adept3?) that is a 30 sec or soo 300dmg damage shield. I experimented a bit and found that if you use your ghetto mez at the beginning of the fight, you can conquer just about any caster out there. Start with your intimidate/strong-arm line, then follow through with chain stuns, throw in a dash of 100 hand slap, and just a pinch of Chuck Norris kick to the face, and SPLAT, caster souffl'e. I gurantee they won't know what hit them, and then ask you if they are supposed to fly 30 feet away? LOL If you ever find yourself in a duel where you sure as hell know that you are going to lose, i've found a good way to tick people off is to lead them to the edge of the dueling circle... and just as the fight begins fear them into disqualification +). <div></div><p>Message Edited by AnAnimatedcorpse on <span class=date_text>10-14-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:53 AM</span>

I haven't found many people of a similar level to duel, but a lot of the secret is probably in using our crowd control effectively. Stun, stun, stun and frontload with damage, use fear and mezz to buy time for your combat arts to recharge. At the end of the mezz, stun them again with the positional attack. For clerics, you probably already know this, but hundred hand slap spells your doom when a reactive is up. Other priests in general you want to pile the damage high to keep them healing. Manastone can be a great asset in this regard at the right time when it's a power struggle. Consider letting clerics get in a reactive before you send them running/mezz them. I believe shamans get health back at the end of a ward, so that will not be quite as successful. Mages you're also going to want to frontload with damage, and keep the self-curing line handy. With fighters and scouts, don't be shy about flipping between stances. You'll want your defense up when they're attacking you and your offense up when you're chain stunning them. If you're going to open up strong, start on the offensive and flip to defensive while you're waiting for things to recharge, so when they spam their CAs you'll have your best chance at blocking the brunt of it. By the same token, if a scout goes invis, throw defense up. Also consider Heavy Scarring at such moments... you can cancel it after the big damage comes through. Same with the health damaging mitigation buff, which you can cancel to make it cost effective. <div></div>

I agree SK's are a pain.A lot of that is down to their uber harm skill, which they can use from the front. The L30+ one will do around 1,500 damage. The best way I found to handle that is to say 'best of 3', because they can only use that skill every 900 seconds, so only once in three fights if you're quick about the first two <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

For shadowknights keep your disease resist high. Get a UI w the resistances are on your screen. Watch for when they start to debuff your disease resist. Hit stone deaf when they do you now have 20 secs of semi invulnerability vs. harmtouch. Its not full proof, but its great to see a SK go [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] after your stone deaf eats his harmtouch. From there on stay offense stance for the proc they mitigate damage very well, but the fire proc goes right thru them. Nothing like a ~1,200 dam proc to sway fights to your favor. Mezz there pet or devasting  fist it. Mezz is better as the pet only lasts 30 secs and you cna mezz it for 22 secs. Stun them alot and out dps them is great. If you think you are losing you can always use the super cheat. Fear them outside ring then mezz them when they coem runnign back in. The don't recieve extra time when mezzed outsdie the blue ring.

lol 55 now and ~1100 quests. Just to lazy to change it. Well until LU14 stone deaf was working, and it worked great vs HT.

SK's Damage shield is whats killer once stone deaf goes through.  Just see when they cast it, time it after that (lasts for 12seconds unless you hit them or something) this would be a good time to mez.  Once times up. Unload.

<P>I've only had one real duel so far - against a 50 necromancer (I'm 49) who was getting on my t*ts challenging everyone and crowing when he beat 'em. *</P> <P>My 'tactic' was to use Strong Arm, then proceeed to beat the living f*ck out of him in about 4 seconds. As tactics go it's pretty rubbish  - but you can't argue with the results...</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P>*I later discovered the obnoxiousness was just him roleplaying, so I felt slightly guilty for beating him so severely - in roleplay terms, of course. My character is more softhearted than me...</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

All of our stuns are .5 second casts. Hit Crusher or Hammer fist, follow 'em up, 1-Hundred Hand Slap Line, Merciless Stomp, By then they are probably already dead, if not, stun, dd, stun, dd, If not dead by then you may have to mez; but they should be dead.

<DIV>I normally begin with hammer fist (out of habit-used to debuff crushing resistance by about 1.3k) then 100slap line, then merciless stomp, crusher, eye gouge, dirty punch... That's my NPC tactic at least... Should work very well with duels too</DIV>
