<P>IMHO to close to tell. </P> <P>If i had o guess i woudl say monk. Because they can almsot self cap haste. At 50+ they get tsunami which is 12sec of riposting and invulnberbitlty and a spell ward instead of a big nuke blocking spell. At one point i would of said bruiser but our 3 min ac buff was nerfed to do 60% damage to us. That said bruiser do have a faster recast on self-heals so fights lasting 3+ minutes brusiers can do a bit better. And a well played bruiser cna do decent damage using positional atks and stuns. </P> <p>Message Edited by Gungo on <span class=date_text>10-03-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:37 AM</span>

Umm, You forget our ability to Fear/Mez? Haven't played a monk all that much but from what I can tell I own every monk and can solo more than a monk can at 39.

I also forgot to mention invis, but yeah fear/mezz cna be useful to solo with if u get adds.
<DIV>Seriously, all joking aside, it's odd that the Monks seem to think Bruisers have the edge and vice versa. </DIV>

<DIV>Grass is always greener I guess. Actually considering making a monk just to see, but don't have it in me to do 60 levels on an experiment. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> To my knowledge we bruisers have more dps, and our self heal is awesome. Bruising spirit line of spells works fine for me, the health reduction doesn't mean much to me, but that coudl be offset to some degree by having items with fortitude of the body on. but if your comparing tanking ability vs dps... we have dps, and dps makes soloing easier. Killing mobs faster means faster exp. Also our 90 second self heal makes soloing go alot faster. </DIV>
<DIV>Well my Monk hit the 50 level cap before the combat revamp and after hearing of the upcoming Monk changes (ie more tank less DPS) I decided to up sticks and roll a Bruiser. Very happy so far - managed to get to 46 in under 15 days of play and loved every minute of it. Anyway, when I hit 50 I'll be able to do a pretty useful comparison between the two - as they are both barbarians with pretty much the same traits. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have to say though that I've only played my Monk twice since the revamp and I had to stop after 5 minutes. I can't put my finger on it, but somehow Bruising's just much more fun.</DIV>

Its generally using DD's, Stuns, until I'm out of stuns. Fear the mob while ranged attacking it then mez him, stun dd dd stun dd ..... umm so basically buying time for our stuns or mend to come up is the way to do it..... but... w/e <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<P>While invis is nice for getting places... getting places isn't what's needed to solo. Between self heal, mez, and fear (the things monks either don't have, or aren't as good at), we are better soloers.</P> <P>That isn't to say that Monks can't solo. If anything, they would be the close second. However, we simply have a larger list of abilities that help us keep things under control, keep creatures from attacking. I don't know how many stuns monks have, but we get 3 stuns from the front.. two of which do big damage, a stun from the back that does a LOT of damage, a fear that can last over 10 seconds, and a mez that can last quite a while.<BR>Add in a self heal every 90 seconds that heals for more than a Monk's, and you have someone who can last longer in a fight.</P> <P>It takes skill, and is dependant on landing your attacks, but if you can chain things right you will not get hit all that often. Oh.. and we get an extra interupt in our taunt (yet another way to screw casters between our stuns and fear/mez), and we have more damaging skills.<BR>I've always found that it's easier to solo when you can do more damage. Combine that with crowd control, even ghetto crowd control, and tanking ability, and you have one of the best soloers in the game.</P> <P>The only way I can think of soloing better would be to have someone else taking the hits (pet classes). And they have their own drawbacks and lack some escape tools (Feign Death).</P>

Necros can feign =p <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> true but given our mtigation buff does more damage to us soloing then its use, monks get a root buff instead which is easier to solo with. Monks get 4 stuns/stifles and thier taunt interupts too. thier dps solo is comparable to us. Becuase they cna hit 96% haste whereas most haste we cna get is 15-20% item haste and ~18% dps increase w adept 3 strirring cry. although we do have quarrl doing dmage instead of taunts. So we may be doing more damage then monks solo, hard to tell it really is very close. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now i have master 1 retalition and only adept3 fiery stance, which do brawlers use to solo with more? I still use retaliton as it seems to be better for me to solo with. Although when i PVP i use offensvie stance since PCs cant mtigatate the proc as much and i am more liekly to land my stuns etc. Thee is also the trick of switching offensive and defensive stanc ewhen soloing. Such that u go all out w ur skills on offense stance then switch back to defensvie then when ur big attacks repop u go offesnve and all out again. It does work, but is very tedious for very small noticabel effect. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But to answer you question taking mezz and fear (which i forgot) into account bruisers are slightly better soloers and monks are slightly better in groups.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <P>Message Edited by Gungo on <SPAN class=date_text>10-06-2005</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>08:43 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Gungo on <span class=date_text>10-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:44 AM</span>

<DIV>I think it depends on the mob as well...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Monks get a little higher resistances than bruisers due to their STR/WIS buff, whereas</DIV> <DIV>Bruisers get a little higher avoidance than monks due to their STR/AGI buff.</DIV>
