You get it at level 1..or 3 whatever. Just be sure to equip dual wield weapons only. <div></div>

Because one of the Fighter classes (Crusaders) never get Dual Wield, you get it at the point of crossing over into one of the classes that can use it (Warrior/Brawler—level 10.) You were, however, correct in stating that both weapons wielded must be Dual Wield.

<P>Thanks, guys!</P> <P>Another noob question, since I generally play casters.....</P> <P>How is the damage rating of a weapon calculated? Do I want a high rating or a low one, and if so, then what is considered good? I understand about lower delay vs. damage, but at what point do weapons climb out of the so-sorange and start qualifying as good? I am just trying to make good choices for my purchases.</P>

Higher damage rating is always better. Calculated by combining damage range + speed. You can have the same damage rating on a weapon that has very fast speed/lower damage, as a weapon with very high damage/slow speed. In the end, no matter how it breaks down, more is better... you can make math cases for faster vs, bigger hits vs. different mobs, but for general use, higher damage rating is flat out better. Unless I'm thinking about a different stat... -T <div></div>

For damage and damage ratings.... do we get a bonus for slower weapons (like EQ1 did at one time)? Two level 40 2h hammers had the same DR at 35.5 but different DPS calcs. Not hugely far off, but there seems to be a grouping effect going on, or one of the weapons gets some bonus due to speed to even it out. Anyone else notice this? <div></div>

<DIV>No... but that's because the damage bonus from Strength isn't a flat amount added to the weapon anymore (and thus having two fast weapons would add more bonus damage than the one slow twohander before).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now it's just a higher damage "rating".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, proc % goes by an amount of time now... not the number of strikes. So a slower weapon and a faster weapon will still proc the same % over real time... the faster weapon doing 20 attacks to proc once, while the half as fast weapon doing 10 attacks to proc once (ie, you'll see the proc go off more frequently on the 2hander, but that's because it's slower... overall you'll proc just as often in the same span of seconds).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It doesn't look like procs are added into the damage rating though. So two weapons will have the same damage and delay, but one has a proc, and yet they show the same DR.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically, it's no longer a "find the fastest weapons and add procs" game... it's "find the highest damage rating, and look for any added effects".</DIV>

<DIV>Thank you very much, all. This was exactly the sort of analysis I was hoping for! I feel a lot better prepared to make good weapon decisions now.</DIV>

Yes, procs are normalized over a 3 second interval, but the formula only takes into account autoattack speed, not CA speed. Using an extreme example, a ranger with a 7 second delay long bow will proc about twice as often when unloading his CAs than a ranger using a 4.5 second delay short bow, because the game expects the long bow to be firing half as often. If you find yourelf chaining CAs for the majority of a fight, a slower weapon will actually increase your DPS (assuming it has a proc equivalent to the faster weapon you'd otherwise choose.)<BR>
