I would say the 50 meter dash.

Other say we have the stamina to do a longer race.

Iksar are awesome bruisers! Ratonga would be fine... later on the stats even out.

There aren't any prefered choices, go with the race you want to play, not what others may or may not think is best or worst.

Still say Ogres are the only real bruisers (plus watching my 7 foot 500 lb ogre do jumping spinning backkicks is a trip.)!

(And Crade of Filth FTW.....nice name)

halflings are fun to watch bring the beat down as well. Besides as a halfling, higher starting agility, agil and avoidance racial traits as well as a very nice racial detaunt as a racial trait for all of those times we steal the group aggro

I agree with Jeze. Pick a race u like visually cause u gotta watch and play it for lotta hours hehe. Dont worry about stats too much, your gear will take care of that.

Does anyone know if the +3 to defense is still a good choice? I'm trying to decide between Iksar and Troll. Troll seems to have a slight edge stats wise, but the Iksar get the +3 to defense. Does that still help a lot, or has it been nerfed?thanks!Senn

I betrayed a froglok and made him a bruiser and from comparing all the bruisers I've seen I've definatly had better stats.

To me it is a no brainer, Ratonga ftw... I am small enough to not be an obstruction, poeple can still target the mobs with mouse with me tanking, and I make these delightful sounds when I beat things up /Svarten

Barbarians imo. Very well rounded stats, exelling in the stats that matter. Ogres are gimped AGI, very important. short races are bit low in STR. = = = = = = = = = It really doesnt matter which race you pick TOO much at all actualy. because in the end. +10 or +15 of any stat isnt gona even be noticeable.

As some others have stated there is no best choice for race/class combo. It's pretty much what do you want to be. By the time you hit 30 the choice of race is pretty much uninportant as all stats can be smoothed over with equipment choices. And below 30, a couple extra points in one stat then another is pretty much meaningless. i.e. 5 extra stamina provides you with like 15hps or something silly like that.

Pick a race you wanna play, look at, and have fun with.

Do Erudite, Aura Sense is a helpful thing in the MA position - and even in the event that you are are MT, drop the Healers and Mages first to speed up almost any fight

Best race for Bruiser? Some say race doesn't matter. They are wrong. What don’t really matter are stats. All stats can be brought up to level cap (7*Level) with gear. STR gear is the cheapest and easiest to find, AGI gear is also cheap and easy (and most monk/bruiser gear will give AGI) since AGI is capped and no longer affects your chance to hit mobs it is a lot less uber than it used to be. The basic gist of this point is: The stats will only be important in the early game (pre 30) after that you should have modified your stats through gear to where you want them. If you pick a race with high STR and STA your going to have a MUCH easier time soloing up to 20 (and really you should as the xp for solo is better pre 20) after 20 you'll probably want to start grouping.

At that point it's time to examine your intended role. Are you going for insane DPS? Or do you want to be the groups MT? A little of both? Once you know your race choices are clear. If you've got a good guild and can get the equipment you need to raise your stats to where they need to be (or you Dual box/duo with a healer) your starting stats don’t matter much so you're free to pick your race SOLEY on your Racial Traits (gained every 10 levels).

If you're going to be the MT then you probably want to pick races who get +STR/STA picks, the +3% Max HP pick, and the ever crucial +Defense Skill pick (Barbarian, Dwarf, & Ogre). If you're a race that doesn’t get those picks, you're going to be sub-optimal.

If you're going for pure DPS then I suggest you pick a class with +AGI and +Avoidance traits (Halfling & Ratonga). The Halfling ALSO gets the +3% Max HP trait so in my opinion they are the clear winner. Again the stats pre-20 will be a handicap, tough it out solo or have the help of a good crafter to upgrade your spells and equipment to level the playing field.

If you're going the middle road (able to MT/DPS without specializing in one) then obviously you want a race with a balance of those picks (Human & Iksar).

Now once you've picked your role you need to know what order to choose those in. Flat rate values (i.e. +5 to STR) are more useful early game (again pre-30) whereas conversely skill boosts and percentage additions are more valuable late game (i.e. +3% Max HP).

Lastly are your Character trait picks. Your level 8 choice should probably be STR, STA, or AGI. I recommend STA as it's the hardest to raise with gear (that and the STA gear always seems to have terrible other bonuses). Next you'll need to choose between max power/HP or power/HP regen. This choice is easy, if you're are mostly a solo player pick the regen choices power or hp either one will server you well. If you're are grouping then it's max HP all the way, if you're the groups MT couple this with your racial choice of max HP for +6% max HP!

I hope this helps.

Why do you suggest +AGI/Avoidance for DPS?
