Hey all, new bruiser here. I'm about to hit 20 and need to upgrade my weapons, and was curious what all weapon types we have. I know we can use all the wooden weapons, such as quaterstaffs, cudgels, etc, and that we can use cestii. What other types of weapons can we equip, and what in your opinion is the best crafted weapon (rare) possible in Tier 3? Thanks for your help.

Hi, I only just pasted 20 this week myself but maybe I can save you a bit of money. Use your fists. I bought a couple of pristine imbued crushing weapons and whilst they worked fine I found that if I unequipped and used the fiery fists (lvl 21 I think) spell I could do way more damage. Of course you loose the stat bonuses from weapons but I've just flown through 5 levels in 3 days with fists only. One thing I am not too sure of though, being quite new to all this myself is if I equip fist wraps or some such will I still be able to use fiery fists buff?

I have a lvl 23 Bruiser I made a few weeks ago, he's a blast. Fiery Fists works with weapons and without weapons. The proc % is the same, but off the top of my head it was like 70-130dmg unequippped and 30-60 dmg while equipped. I parsed both and it's about the equil give or take a small amount. So, he's right, you can go without a weapon and still do just fine.

I did however find something interesting stuff. Interesting to me, probably not any of you old-school bruisers. My damage parsed as slash/pierce with my autoattacks. I had a Cestus and another hand type weapon. They both say crushing type, but when I parsed it came up different.

Of course, no weapon was crushing. Anyone got any idea why I got parsed slashing and piercing while I had a crushing type weapon equipped?

A few things. First. Do not go weaponless. Because you can doesn't mean you should. I can quit my job but I probably shouldn't. The stats from the the weapons are worth the money you will spend. As you grow up look for dual weild weapons for when you dps and off tank. Look for a nice 2hb when you tank. Str, Agi, Sta, and now Wis are all important to us. Look at what you do more often and tailor your toon accordingly.

Str = damage

Agi = avoidance

Sta = Hitpoints

Wis = Resists

Second, to the damage question. ALL of our weapons rely on our crushing SKILL in order to hit a mob. The actual damage TYPE varies depending on cesti, cestus, fistwrap, cudgel, or whatever. Cesti and Cestus are piercing and slashing damage. They still use your crushing SKILL as the modifier for the "to hit" calculation.

It is a smart idea to carry extra weapons along that are slashing or piercing damage. In case you run across a mob that is immune to crush, or your fists do not cause damage on a mob. It is also worthwhile to note that carrying a 2hnd blunt is good if you want to be the MT, as it lowers ripostes. With the CC our parry/block is better, but it would still be smart to carry one along, as you never know when you need to thwack a mage on the head w/o actually oneshotting him/her.

Does wearing fistwraps affect the proc damage of fiery fists? I seem to kill things nearly a third quicker with no weapons at all compared to dual weilding crushing weapons. Although I do still carry my weapons for skilling up each level.

I'm still killing much faster without weapons so far in my 20's maybe that will change though soon.
