I cant say this will quite answer your question.. but i'll tell you what i know.

PRE REVAMP!!!

I as a 37 bruiser can tank for lower level groups quite nicely. My still grey SHOUT and my slurred insult seem to manage agro nicely, unless of course there is a damage happy Warden around. I've found that if the mob is white or less I take barely any dmg, and if done just right.. you can keep agro from just about any one. However, I built my Bruiser to be DPS, i went mostly STR and AGI when it came up and didnt take all hate reducing spells that came along. I've always said.. Give me two good healers, and i'll be a mediocore tank. Tanking is not what i wanted, thats why i'm a bruiser... i want to be able to take a hit, or save the cleric and stand and fight it long enough for my friends to escape before i FD the mob off.. but standing in the trenches is not (IMO) What we were meant to do.

I've partied with a monk that i was mentoring at 30, she could get agro off me easily it seemed at the begining of the fight. And her health didnt drop any more than mine would have if i would have ketp agro.. so wiether or not she was just better than me.. or her char was more geared for it, i dont know. But thats what i know ~

Even at level 50 you can tank for experience groups and heroic mobs with little or no issues. Your damage takes a drop though because you spend more of your time taunting and hitting from the front gets you blocked more. However if your skilled you can still get in your positional attacks by using your stuns, circling to the flank quickly then circling back to your tanking position and if you do it right The mob should not have moved. If your equipment and skills are all in your level range you should do fine as a tank. You might have to work with the ^^^ mobs and stay away from Epics unless you have a the support systems in place to effectively pull it off. I personally dont carry a full complement of healers and bards in my back pocket so when it comes time to pick a MT I step aside for the professionals.

On live: I am the main tank for my guild at 46.8. (yes not very uber) I have tanked the comonlands an antonican dracotas, the cove of decay skelly captain, and pretty much every group mob XP group I have ever been in (all non-grey). If you are using a MA (everyone isn't targeting thru you) fear and mez, added to taunting, can do wonders. -T

Hell we can be the best [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] tanks (pre revamp) if you give us a good shaman. Their wards absrorb the damage we would usualy take when we are actualy hit. So it works out rather well in the long run... give us a druid to have healing over time or a quizie to have their proc heals for when we do get hit and we tank pretty well too. But SOE is changing this trying to make us little pansy gumming tanks that are suppose to be able to absorb dps like a sponge while still wearing flimbsy leather armor. So dont make any decisions till the revamp goes live.
