Piercing Damage

<DIV>I ignored the different damage types and exclusively used crushing weapons.  Now I'm level 42 and my piercing is 45 / 211.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I purchased a piercing weapon and went out to smack some mobs around and my skill never goes up.  What do I need to do?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

That you have 45 skill in piercing is but an illusion.  As said above our ONLY damage SKILL is crushing.  Every type of weapon we can use is based off of crushing SKILL.  Damage types such as pierce and slash are different.  Cesti and cestus will do slashing and piercing damage type, however the ability to hit something with them is based off of the crushing SKILL.  It's SOE's attempt to confuse the living hell out of us.
