<DIV>Level 33 bruiser. Had an Etheric Katar in my offhand today for two or three hours. Briarwood cudgel in main hand. Said I was doing slashing and crushing damage and the Katar shows up when you sort broker for slashing which is why I got it. However my slashing skill showed as 125/170 and did NOT go up the entire time. Had warden buffs on me throughout. About an hour into fighting I got a little concerned because I had had no skill ups so I started paying attention a little more closely.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Two or three hours without a skill up seems long. Very long.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?</DIV>

<div></div><div>You're doing nothing wrong.</div> <div> </div> <div>You will no longer get piercing or slashing skill ups. Everything we weild now calculates of "crushing."</div> <div> </div> <div>So, it doesn't matter. EDITED per Jez's observation. </div><p>Message Edited by Opaki on <span class=date_text>05-16-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:35 PM</span>

<P>Pardon me for being daft but this means that we can use slashing or piercing weapons and their effectiveness is based off our Crushing skill and not off our piercing or slashing skill?</P> <P>Really?</P>

All fist weapons now use crush, and since all our pierce/slash weapons are fists, they use crush.</span><div></div>

<DIV>The way the system works now damage type no longer corresponds to the mirror damage type skill. This keeps confusing people because it makes no sense. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here's the take-home: don't worry about your slashing or piercing skill values. They won't go up again, and it doesn't matter that they won't. It's not a bug. You can still do crush, slash, or pierce damage depending on your equipped weapon. </DIV>

All brawler Damage for Fist weapons is based from two areas, Fist skill and Crushing skill . . with that, Piercing and slashing skill will never go us, however, this still needs to be corrected further due to throw weapons such as dagger, Shurikens, and Axe obviously using those dmg types to adjust for damage. Anyhow back on track.... The reason the weapons gives Crushing, Piercing and slashing damage is to allow them  to make certain types of damage and give some creatures etc, immunities and extra resistance to those damage types. You'll find Skeletons take more damage then normal from Crushing dmg weapons, and thick hard skined creatures tend to take less from it. Some creature, for instance, Varsoon, is completely Immune to Piercing damage.  Its still arguably the most redundant system they have implanted into EQ2 and also one of the easier systems to Code. <div></div>

<P>ok, i searched for this post xactly, and would just like to clarify, i know, i know, you already said it, but I am lvl 21, and spent 18 gold on a weapon that was listed as "piercing"</P> <P> </P> <P>Legendary cestus, f'n [Removed for Content], but i saw my pierceing was only 41/104, so i go out, planning to skill up for a few hours. Fought grey, green, blue mobs, for well over a hour, and got no piercing skill up, dmg seemed to be there, I did no specials, just long drawn out melee incounters. And thought, [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot], this is gonna take forever, 1 hour, and not one skill up.</P> <P> </P> <P>So people are certain, that even a piercing cestus goes of youre crushing skill??? I was beggining to worry alot, I dont understand why they did it this way, but if you are sure, I will believe you, and just move on with my life, ty <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
