<DIV>I have been trying to figure out how this game calculates our max damage of our skills. I thought i had it down to strength, but i noticed soemthing today. The max damage of say our Burning lunge varies from 413 to 457 depending if i equip my Slime Coated mace or pristine forged fulginate mace. Both have the same damage of 21-63 and both have very close stats. So whats the deal here? how is this game calculating our damage?</DIV>

<DIV>The slime coated mace is blue, the other is orange. Funny thing is though, the slime coated is the one that makes my combat skills hit the hardest.  I must note that the damage changes when i change the weapon in the primary slot. If the orange mace is in primary, combat skills do less damage then if the blue one was in primary.</DIV><p>Message Edited by BuzzKillDOA on <span class=date_text>02-27-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:54 PM</span>

<DIV>dont know, but here's a possible explaination</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>you have already mastered the blue weapon, while you still have yet to discover on the orange one.  When you use the skill, it recognizes that you have an orange weapon, and you cant use the skill to the max effect?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know that green/grey weapons will make your skills do less damage, but they didnt say anything about blue.   It is very possible that blue/white weapons will make you hit harder than green/grey/orange weapons.  I have personally not noticed a difference in damage on skills when using a high damage 2 handed weapon vs a lower damage DW weapon.   Stays the same for me.  This makes it possible that your skills are based upon the color of the weapon and how well you have mastered it.  Try in a few levels when that orange weapon turns white.  I'd be willing to bet that you will do more damage with the skills that currently show less damage.</DIV>

<P>That is a very good point. Im going to try and find a white or yellow weapon in game with close to the same damage and equip it and see if that changes it. I was thinking that could of been a possibility but I didnt think the games dynamics would be that involved. Guess I was wrong.</FONT></P>

<DIV>I think it's like you said.  The green weapon has been mastered so you can use it to it's full potential, where the other has room to grow.  Over time the orange mace will hit harder.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One thing to note though, I thought NOW the weapon effictiveness didnt decrease with con? (other then the fact that your higher con weapons are usually going to do moredamage or be better suited to your level)</DIV> <DIV>Live Update #3</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Melee combat arts <STRONG>no longer </STRONG>decrease in effectiveness when equipping a weapon that is blue, green, or grey to the user.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>**edit**</DIV> <DIV>was a post/response by Moor in another forum that contradicts the patchnotes so /shrug</DIV> <DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Anlarius wrote:<BR><BR> Partialy true.  They scale one way.  Combat arts will never get stronger with better weapons, but they get weaker if using greyed out weapons supposidly.<BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR> <DIV>Correct. Except in a few cases where a certain weapon type is required to use a particular spell or art, your weapons only affects auto-attack damage. Spells and arts improve by upgrading the ability itself, not by upgrading your weapon (unless you're currently using green or grey weapons).</DIV> <P>===========================<BR>Moorgard<BR>EverQuest II Community Guy</P></DIV><p>Message Edited by Ghaleon on <span class=date_text>03-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:24 AM</span>
