The lvl 20 Training ability = Atral's Deathly Visage - An advanced form of Feign Death. As a bonus to Feign Death it has a higher base chance to succeed. This is an AMAZING ability. Not only does it have a better chance of succeeding than FD but it's also on a seperate re-use timer thus effectively giving you TWO chances at FD.I found it incredibly useful having 2 FDs and being to spam one if the other fails... makes running through zones like FG a lot easier =DThe other level 20 Training abilities didn't look all that great. Does anyone have any feedback on them?

This is what I'm looking at now. I love FD for soloing and if the special trait moves it to Adept II PLUS some bonus, I'm very interested. However at 20 FD is already yellow to be upgraded at 28, while Bruising Strike is orange w/o upgrade until 31. I think Bruising Strike is our 2nd strongest ability at this time after Rapid Strike. We get a new stun in Fierce Punch at 27, so the only one I'm sure I don't want is the Shoulder Charge upgrade. At first I thought I'd ignore the upgraded to Focused Strike, but then I got thinking. Do we ever get a ranged attack upgrade? Also, how strong is the debuff and how long does it last? Does it stack with other classes debuff? So, I'm thinking of three and am gonna check the new solo content they're touting. If it's good, I think I'll go FD. Otherwise, I think Bruising Strike unless I hear that debuff is really good or that the ranged attack is useful until end game.

I agree that the Shoulder Charge upgrade isn't really worth it considering it's not really an ability I use very much and I'm not even sure how useful the stun is.Can't really answer your questions about the Focused Strike upgrade although I can say I was put off from getting it because I already had an Adept 1 version of the original and again, it's useful for pulling and adding a little sauce damage but it isn't exactly a massive deal for me.I know what you mean about the Bruising Strike upgrade and I've heard it's a good ability and probably very damaging and very useful. My decision to take FD was pretty much based on the fact that I only had FD app 3 and needed the upgrade plus I like the idea of having two FDs on seperate timers for twice the chance.Let me know how it goes with whatever ability you take.

MightyThor wrote:. . . plus I like the idea of having two FDs on seperate timers for twice the chance.

Seems odd that the FD's are on separate timers when all the abilities are upgrades to existing skills and all others are on the same timer as the ability they upgrade. If they're on separate timers now, I'd expect that to get corrected. Now that you have it, what is the best FD roll you've made as reported by /feign and at what level?
Message Edited by ClobberSaurus on 01-14-2005 06:06 AM

I took Sarko's Hook. I'm too lazy to use it all that often (needs more range or I would pull with it), and who knows how good the debuff is. Usually just stick to rapid swings, bruising strike, a thrust kick here and there, etc.

Whether or not you take shoulder charge upgrade, you should be using it anyway. Stuns are great to reduce overall damage (give healers some extra time or save their power), stun casters, etc.

I'm not sure if the seperate FD timer thing is a "bug" or not but in it's current form it's very useful because I can cancel and retry FD without waiting for skills to refresh.I didn't know about the /feign command so I'll check it out and get back to you on it. I can say however, that there does seem to be a significant increase in the reliability of the FD upgrade over the normal FD (at least at app 3... but I imagine the difference will diminish if you have adept 1 or adept 3).

wow .. i wish this thread was around before i chose my abilities at 20 .. i picked the shoulder charge quickly realized how useless it is ... i didnt use bruising strike much before 20 and it was app1 for teh longest .. then a alchemist friend gave me a ton of upgrades and when i made it to 20 .. its become my most powerful attack behind rapid strike ... luckily the devs are goin to reset the traits yet again!
