<DIV>Hello, </DIV> <DIV>Got a static group with a Brawler MT and myself as a Defiler MH. He has a lvl 20 Guardian and a lvl 19 Brawler->Bruiser. He says it's easier to hold agro with the Guadrian over the Brawler. Myself not knowing much about the class (just know your good tanks with us shammys), are there any tricks to holding agro or is there a point where it gets easier to hold agro? For the record, he had a lvl 60+ SK in EQL and we are an experianced group that knows how to manage agro.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does it get easier down the road?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks much</DIV> <DIV>Blixx</DIV>

with low AC in the 20's, I dont think youd want the Bruiser to be MT. Let thhe canman take the heat.

<DIV>With the Bruiser's fantastic DPS abilities, holding aggro on single mobs shouldnt be much of a problem. Where things get a little dicey is when a Bruiser tries to tank large groups (maybe 4 or 5+). My best recommendation is to use group buffs, Intimidate (mini mez), and AE attacks like Whirling Blaze to maintain aggro - mobs hate it when you use those abilities, in addition to normal taunts.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Rontgen on <span class=date_text>01-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:40 PM</span>

<DIV>I have no problem holding aggro unless there are 3 wizards in the group and we are fighting a multiple encounter in the dungeon. btw, is jeer fixed?</DIV>

<DIV>I have a 19 brawler and enjoy tanking quite a bit. What I have found is that it is best to assign a Main Assist because I have to switch targets frequently to maintain agro. Other tricks I've picked up from these boards or by trial and error is to use your group buffs during combat, and don't pull the mob to the group right away. Use your ae taunt, single taunt, and a few attacks before you drag the mobs back. Helps quite a bit. Of course you HAVE to have good agility and decent ac to do that. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In my view the Brawler/Bruiser/Monk is more of a "tweaker" tank where you have to have good equipment to be effective. At least from what I have experienced so far.</DIV>

<DIV>Call to Arms is the best thing you can use to hold aggro at L19. Should works ok, and of course, you have the very risky, slow and not all that damaging assult line of aoe damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Your group buff is always your best taunt i've found. It taunts everything, not just one encounter, and it generates ALOT more hate than shout does. Not that you should neglect should, but use both for best effect. You can use your aoe damage if you're desperate, but its point blank area, not enemy encounter. Adds can be a major risk using that, and it doesn't really generate alot of hate, since it's damage is kinda mediocre for the amount of time to activate.</DIV>
