I'm wondering how many still uses shout in the 35+ range? rather then jeer or boast as an AoE taunt?Personally I'm still using shout to taunt multible mobs with, and using boast as a fear. I don't mind that the fear comes with a taunt effect to level out it's effectiveness, but I do mind that our shout upgrade comes with a fear, rendering very hard to impossible to use as a proper encounter taunt.Thoughts?<p>Message Edited by Jezekiell on <span class=date_text>01-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:44 PM</span>

<DIV>I've dropped the old Shout ability long ago. I either use Jeer, or a combination of Group Buff and single or ae attacks, depending on if it's safe to do so.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've found that even using Intimidating Orders causes more taunt factor than the old Shout.. one fight I'd spam Shout with no effect... the next fight I decided to use Intimidating Orders and grabbed aggro.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Taunt abilities, from what I've gathered, generate a certain amount of hate "value". If the people in your group are using White-Orange abilities, abilities for their level, and you are using a Grey ability, it's not going to do enough to keep up.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To put it in numbers... imagine Shout did 50 taunt to the whole group, and at the low levels, the healing spells and nukes did something like 40-80 taunt. Now we go to higher levels.. the abilities people are using are going to be doing 140-200+ taunt, while you're still trying to use your little 50 taunt Shout.</DIV>

<DIV>What level shout are you guys using? I have not found anything greater than App 3 so far and have never met anyone with an adept 1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I only use Jeer if I am outdoors, it is too situational inside. The pathing is hoorible on mobs.</DIV>

<DIV>I used App 3 Shout until level 50, to be honest. I reserved Boast for multi-enemy encounters and found the low power requirement of Shout to be appealing. I haven't any concrete numbers of fails vs. successes in reference to Shout, but I can recall it being a fairly sound choice insofar as multi-enemy taunting was concerned for virtually every level until it is replaced.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I use it in combination with our Group Buffs.  Shout is just so very lacking though, but I still use it as every little bit helps.  I seriously believe we need an upgrade w/o the fear component for sure.  We shouldnt have to depend on using buffs as a reliable taunt lol</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Zahn</DIV> <DIV>Permafrost </DIV>

<DIV>as soon as i got Jeer adept1 i forgot shout.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>now i am using Boast App3</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>maybe i should give shout another chance <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV>well maybe not - boast works fine for me</DIV>

I use Shout all the time to finish HOs when soloing - where holding aggro is not a concern. It costs only 11 power compared to Jeer (32 power) and Slurred Insult (31 power). Multiply it by three or even four HOs used per solo encounter (obviously more or less depending on how tough your target is) and the power saved really adds up. Conserving every bit of power can really help during those tough fights. At the very least conserving power can help increase your "mobs per minute" rate - very effective when you need to chrun through 30 mobs to complete each guild writ.<p>Message Edited by Rontgen on <span class=date_text>01-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:46 AM</span>

<DIV>Boast is all fine and good outside, like was said untill the bug that causes the inside mobs to get stuck into the walls is fixed shout is the only "real" option inside.  My problem when tanking inside, is that  I do not feel shout holds up to other tank ae taunts.  One of the best things you can do as stated above is use your group combat buff with shout/buff yourself with bob and weave, and use the hate causing attacks.</DIV>

<DIV>I would count Abuse as an upgrade.</DIV>

<DIV>Right, count abuse.  So from the level 8 skill shout you are saying all these bruisers who are nowhere near level 50 should count the level 50 AE Hate skill as their primary upgrade! ~  There need to be an upgrade somewhere in the 30's</DIV>

<DIV>Boast has a fear component? I ask because it says nothing in the description about that...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ff0000>36 - Boast (Increases hate towards the bruiser and grants an increase in the attack speed of the bruiser)</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ff0000></FONT> </DIV> <DIV>Nope.. no fear component. And in the 30s too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So yeah.. taunting can suck with the pathing bug from 20s to mid 30s... but after that, is there still an issue? As far as I can tell, Jeer is the only fear taunt.</DIV>
