<DIV>I was looking at the spell list, and monks seem like they get alot more useful combat arts than brawlers.</DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV><U>Im trying to decide If i want to be a bruiser or monk, im not trying to bring town the class.</U></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>im not a bruiser yet, im a lvl 17 brawler, but after looking at the spell list they look worse than monks.</DIV> <DIV>from the looks of it, this is what I have come up with...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>fiery fist, pretty much useless because of the low damage and proc rarity</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Jeer is bugged....and whats it purpose if it isnt?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rough house, i like to use staves, does that mean its worthless?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>if crash is like power strike than it totally sucks</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>intimidate, I really dont see a use to this ability</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>killing spirit, wouldnt that just be the same overall if your losing health?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>everything else in levels 20 to 30 are fairly nice, but what use to these have??</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>the only bad arts i see in monks from those levels are grappling bear, plodding tortoise is probably not that great, and maybe karmic focus. and they arnt even that bad, except for grappling bear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>but they get alot of nicer ones, and get more spells. they even get three at level 25 when we get one?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im not trying to bash the class, but bruisers seem worse to me..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>can someone explain to me or show me how these skills can be <U>useful</U>????</DIV><p>Message Edited by NecroRat on <span class=date_text>12-23-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:36 PM</span>

Jeer and Intimidate are crowd control abilities. If you're MT and in a place where jeer doesn't cause mobs to warp, it's an awesome ability. It basically removes an enemy from the combat, while acting as a group taunt. Intimidate is only useful really if you're not MT. Fiery Fist is fine. The proc rate improves with levels. Crash increases hate. Anything that increases hate is good if you're MT. I don't use rough house. The level 25 thing is a bug. One of the skills, Break Through, is intended to be a bruiser skill. It will be switched over to the proper class soon. I don't have Killing Spirit yet, but there's already a lengthy discussion of it on these boards. I look forward to getting the skill, as a RL friend of mine plays a cleric and I usually tank for our friends group.<p>Message Edited by Brashnir on <span class=date_text>12-23-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:54 PM</span>
<DIV>After wasting 22 levels on an Illusionist I took a long hard look at monks/bruisers. In the end I decided that the bruiser was the more kick [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] sounding of the two. Monks are pretty boys... Bruisers knock out teeth.</DIV>

<DIV>Monk got better Defense but Bruiser got a lot better DPS. I had grouped w/ monks manytime and their DPS dont even come close to mine. The only class the come very close or little surpass me are scout type class. To me, i love bruiser because we do very nice dmgs and i m very satified w/ my class. True monk can tank better but why do i wanted to that since Guardian/Paly/SK/Zerker can do that for me. But at the bottom line, play what you want as long as you have fun.</DIV>

They say monks are better tanks, but oddly enough, every group that I share with a monk that we have no tank, you will find the monk doesn't wanna tank. So always ends up on me as the bruiser, and I've never had too bad a problem with it even with just a single healer. And as far as dps, the monks *MAY* beat us early on, not too sure, but post 25 i'm sure that we destroy them in dps, post 33? Forget it, they're through.Go bruiser, anyone whos played past 26 can probably tell you how much they love the class, I haven't met anyone that didn't anyways.Good luck have fun~~Ubir Bufff~~Halfling Bruiser~

Have to agree with Ubir here. (Hey ubs, 40 yet? <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ). I'm currently only 29 and I'm loving this class much more so than any other I've played. We can do a little bit of everything, we can tank, we can help control the crowds and we can give some offensive and defensive buffs to the group. Handy class to have around for those that aren't totally ignorant of what we can do. I end up edumacating at least one person every time I group up, there are alot of common misconceptions about our class and what we can handle.

Lvl 50 bruiser here... and monks kick the rear end. They counter and reposte a hella lot more than we do. That is what makes up for their dps. I will probably roll a monk to lvl 50 also .

<DIV>Well I am currently lvl 30... though I have had my fair share of worries and concerns over defensive abilities, through the course of the Terrible Twenties... so far Bruisers seem to do better and better every lvl.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dont MT unless I want to, mostly find myself doing crowd control, and taking out the lesser targets in a group encounter... thus letting healers use less power keeping MT alive and shortening the time of each encounter. I get to pull mobs in dungeons, FD off the adds while the main target I lock in goes straight to the group. Basically I dont get stuck in the stereotype and the same job over and over again.</DIV>
