<DIV>So do you use this as an upgrade to Shout? I am curious about this because I see different playstyles. Put me in the yes column. This is also another reason why I hate to high hell the inferred target thing. Dont target me unless you are healing, runeing etc me. I have even at times alternated stuns with an assassin threw in Jeer until the cleric had mana to heal, if folks would of not used /assist we woukd have all died.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I really like Jeer, it is a great tool. The description leads you to believe it is an ae fear, this is incorrect. It is an ae taunt and fears the targeted mob for a nice chunk of time. I have adept 1 atm.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Oidan on <span class=date_text>12-12-2004</span> <span class=time_text>08:46 AM</span>

I use it mostly as a fear, and use shout for taunting.

<DIV>Shout is grey at my level. If I use it now, it does little to nothing at all with regards to aggro when fighting even+ creatures (I've experienced) and probably even anything greater than grey (my edumucated guess).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I use Jeer full time as my group taunt. Creatures running off do not aggro other creatures, I was afraid of that happening (hold over from EQ1), but this simply doesn't happen.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Educate your group. Tell them your group taunt fears your target. Make sure people are using /assist, and not just targetting you (if you are MT). Tell them to switch to a different target if their's is feared for whatever reason and not chase the bloody thing all over.. players chasing mobs WILL attract adds.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you use this (properly) all the time, it has the same effect as a Slow debuff: You've brought down the damage being done to your and the group, saving yourself or the MT damage, and the healers power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As much as I'd like a "fears the group" effect, I like that it only fears your target. This gives you <EM>total</EM> control over who is running around. It makes the ability useable as a taunt.. instead of simply a backup "oh crap" ability.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A "fear the whole encounter" would be nice.. or an area fear/+aggro, kinda like a twisted version of the Shaman spell. But not for the staple "group taunt" because it would become useless and you would be stuck chasing down mobs all the time.</DIV>

The thing is, there's far to high risk in my opinion to be using Jeer as an AoE taunt in dungeons due to bad pathing issues where mobs run in to the geometry of the zone and get either lost (poofs), or stuck so your group is stuck in combat mode.

<P>I wouldnt use it in dungeons like edgewater or FG. It seems when I use it there alot of the time the mob that is feared will disappear or poof. This would leave my group locked in an encounter and we'd end up having to break the encounter with /yell or zone out completely. Outdoors its great, just be carefull in dungeons with iffy pathing.</P>

It was a total pain, both of us had to logout and back in just to clear since we weren't anywhere near a zone.I use jeer mostly when I need to help out a healer or if too many mobs come. I don't use it in dungeons anymore, but for the outdoor zones it's great.

<DIV>I use jeer mostly as a solo tool.  I switch to what ever target im not killing and fear it for a short while and refear it when the timer allows.. This allows me to solo mutiple group flagged mobs. (NOTE the mobs im talking about are 3 to 4 lvls below me usualy two green ^ mobs or 3 no^ mobs  It gets tuff if they are blue or ^^ mobs)</DIV>

I highly suggest you upgrade your intimidate skill and use that for crowd control, it works great and really tends to aggrivate the mob as well. For emergencies use Jeer unless in a open outdoor zone where you can keep an eye on the mob as it runs away. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>The only problem I have with Intimidate is that it will make you auto attack because it's considered an attack (not a spell), so it turns on autoattack. When I'm too close, I tend to break it's mez as soon as I catch them with it. :smileyindifferent:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's a good tactic if you can get away from the mob enough to not attack it (face away from it?).</DIV><p>Message Edited by Raidi Sovin'faile on <span class=date_text>12-14-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:25 AM</span>

Just change target before you finnish casting intimidate.Or if you're not the MT, Tab or click with mouse -> Intimidate -> Assist/Tab/Mouse Click

I have to agree with Teche that Jeer is quite useful when soloing multiple mobs. I don't deny that it has its place as a taunt when fighting in a group (especially considering that by the time you get Jeer, the Shout ability has a reduced aggro effect). However, I usually group with a Coercer and the last thing we want is a mob running around and potentially getting behind the group where it is more diffuicult to target it for mez.

<DIV>i use jeer all the time. in my guild grps we are usally pulling grped mobs with atleast 3 in the grp so i will fear one and intimadate the other buys us a little extra time to take care of the main target and not get hit. if its a two grped mob ill just fear the one and then intimadate him when h returns usally by then the first mob is almost or is dead. seems to work well also if healer gets agro. </DIV>

<DIV>I usually use it as crowd control to take care of adds.  red++ and orange++ adds are no longer a problem, just jeer, intimidate, jeer, intimidate, jeer... etc </DIV>
