do you HAVE to be unarmed for Bruiser skills?I am looking for a Melee class that I can use a Staff as my Only weapon. Will these skills still work with a Staff Equipped?

Executing combat arts is not dependant on the weapon you use.

<blockquote><hr>Dovifat wrote:Executing combat arts is not dependant on the weapon you use.<hr></blockquote>awesome. so Bruisers CAN use staves?how are Bruiser defenses? are they more damage avoidance (by not being hit, dodging, etc.) or damage absorption (through armor and lots of HP...just stand there and take it)??just a matter of style for me here. can't imagine a Staff user being a slow moving meatlump, ya know?

<DIV>hey Jez - do alot of the later brawler and then the bruiser skill animations still look at least somewhat "martial artsy" with all the changes to the animations?   I've only gotten my brawler back up to 12 now so I havent seen much myself yet =)</DIV>

<DIV>Well before I became a brawler at lvl 9 .. I wielded an orcish axe which on average did 9-12 dmg ... then once I became a Brawler at lvl 10 .. I was using the same axe on goblins skeles .... doing an avg dmg of 1-2 ....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was like .."What the?" ... then it dawned on me .. I'mm a brawler ... let me see what happenes when I put my weapon away and use my fists ....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sure enough .. my damge went back up to 12 avg damage ..... I guess brawlers aren't as effective with 1hand weapons ...</DIV> <DIV>at least not the weapon I had</DIV>

They looked good though.

Gotta buy it at your trainer, you dont get it automatically.ps: <b>22 - Jeer (Increases hate towards the bruiser and fears all enemies in an encounter)(Note- It never feared more then 1 enemy in beta)</b>It worked fine for me fearing mob groups as well - as long as they are one linked encounter.<p>Message Edited by Dovifat on <span class=date_text>11-20-2004</span> <span class=time_text>11:07 AM</span>

I've yet to fear more then 1 mob in any encounter in retail, it fears the mob I have targeted and then taunts all of em. Same as it did for me in Beta. *shrugs*

<DIV>Jeer seems to fear the one you target instead of all of them (like it should).  Also, taunting slap doesnt deal damage, like it is supposed to do.  Makes me a little upset, <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Jez, it might be a good idea to go back with this post and begin editing each ability to actually reflect what we the players know about it. Those descriptions are often so amorphous, especially the skin styles. I was thinking erase the jargin SOE gives us and write in after each, "Mid-damage, stuns enemy" or "Doesn't really change your form, just makes your skin go a little grey" or "Doesn't actually do any damage to the mob like SOE tells us."</DIV>

Jezekie
01-04-2005, 09:25 PM
Yeah, that might be an idea at some point if that's what people wants.
