So I'm back in EQ2 after a long hiatus (been gone since before KoS) and I decided to start a monk. I have to say I'm loving it and so far I have him up to level 21.

My question has to do with the fact that I seem to be gaining adventure levels at faster pace than AA points even though I'm doing a bunch of quests. Right now I'm running around Antonica with combat experience turned off so I can finish some quests before they turn grey. I'm just wondering if this ever changes or if I should even worry about it that much at my level? I know a friend of mine is leaving combat experience off almost full time and just leveling off of quests. I'm rather loathe to do this though. Any info would be helpful and much appreciated.

You can always mentor down to a lower level to turn quests in.

Thats what I have done when turning in HQs and collection quests. I learned that when completing quests in Steamfont. I would finish all I could at one time, then mentor down to the lowest level I could (sometimes would have a guildie zone in from Gfay with a teen alt). I dont know if the level makes a difference, but I made about 350% aa off the gnome questline in Steamfont.

Yes - mentoring down is a good tool to use in those situations.

Personally, however, I never really concerned myself with the progress of experience vs. AA points in relation to how fast I gain both. I think focusing on too much of that takes away the enjoyment of the game - at least for me. I am a grinder at heart though, and as such - just let the xp and AA come in as it does.

I've only really stopped my XP bar once or twice - and not for very long. :smileywink:

I agree, just enjoy the game and it will all work out. I did find though that when I hit 50 my AA points began to catch up with me quicker as I ran more places and began to mentor people alot more. At 63 i think i am now getting 2 to 3 AA points per adventure level from quests and killing named mobs.

As you level you can also drop back and pick up any named heroics (right before they turn grey) to get that named kill AA xp also.
