I recently lvl'd to 65 and scribed my Dragonbreath ability, at adept I. I remember seeing this being used in the past and recall the player spinning around all crazy like with fire coming out of their mouth. When I activated it barely anything happend except for a split second of fire and no spinning. I then began inspecting the ability and it shows it should be doing damager instantly and every second, in addition to the debuff, and the duration is 8 seconds. So as I continued to try and use the ability I noticed it was not ever showing up in my spell window like all my other CA's would do with their countdown timer going before they disappeared. Is this happening to anyone else? I checked the forums before posting and found plenty about the supposed "nerf" of the spell....but nothing that said it was flat out broke?

Its definitly working BUT the resistance rate of the Mobs vs this aoe dot is insane. I have the Spell at M1 and rhoughly i d say its resisted 6 to 7 out of 10 times. Very disappointing imo.

CaineBladesDarathar

Seems to work ok for me. Interestingly though it appears to be based on the new "aggression" skill for its resists and not heat as you would imagine. It certainly helped me level up agression anyway when it was implemented along with our 2 taunts.

You won't see the icon in your maintained window, but you will see it in the target window of any mob in the cone effect area that does not resist it. I am pretty sure a mob gets a resist chance each tick, and that the art stops working at any point when it is resistsed. So, if you hit 5 mobs in a cone, probably one or two will outright resist, one or two more will resist on intermediate ticks (taking partial damage), and finally maybe one will take 'full damage' from all ticks. I am pretty sure it can also be cured, so if you are fighting a group with healer mobs, they will probably make an effort to remove the dot early once it lands.

I have not seen any correlation between dragonbreath hits and aggression.

Alrighty, thanks to all for the info. I'll keep smacking it then. I also thought it was weird I was getting aggression skill ups when nothing about about taunt or hate gain was mentioned in its description.

Hrm, well I was laready max aggression after the patch before I used dragonbreath for the first time. Does it have the taunt icon? Or do you have AAs that turn TV into a hate siphon and maybe had that up at the same time?
Message Edited by Bladewind on 12-27-2006 08:11 AM

I also gained aggression skill points when I used this ability. I know it was form that ability because the only time I gained other then using taunt was when I used Dragonbreath.
