Hello there fellow Brawlers. While we will have to see if the avoidance on test means anything I pose an interesting question. Two pieces of armor one is DragonScale Tunic Level 69 mitigation 397, the other is Tunic of Whispered Echoes Level 70 mitigation 315. Now taking into account the levels of mobs 70 and above which piece of armor regardless of its other stats would be better for tanking. Due to the fact that the mob regards the level of gear that you wear to its +hit bonuses and anything else it throws at you, does the one level difference make up for the 82 points of mitigation. Realize that this could also go for any armor that you wear that is below 70 when your fighting 71 or higher or named encounters. And at what level does the difference compare to the mitigation gap or the mitigation gap to the level. Thank you for your responses. Tunic of whispered echoes can be found on station item data base.

Rhodesian Ridgeback 70/Monk (Kerra)

Crushbone server/Guild F I N A L I T Y

Equip one, note your mitigation total. Then, equip the other and note your mitigation total. This should show you your mit vs a lvl 70 opponent. Against mobs that are higher, both would be worse off. I would guess the dragonscale tunic will always have a higher effective mit than the other piece since it is only one level lower but has a significantly higher mit value. The only time the other might be better would be vs orange mobs, but it is probably a toss up.

The extra to hit bonuses that some mobs have negate your contested avoidance. This has very little to do with your gear. Base chance to hit is level-relative, and is osmewhat effected by gear (agi and avoid bonuses). Your mitigation is the big one that gear controls, and the amount of damage your mit can absorb depends your level relevant to the mob.

The avoidance changes listed in the test notes don't change our uncontested avoidance at all, so we won't see any improvement from them :/ The change listed is to stop plate tanks from getting the best of both worlds by wearing cloth armor.

Message Edited by Bladewind on 12-05-2006 09:18 AM
