yeah i'm one of the lucky monks who's guild doesn't know we suck =o) as for wasting my time on diety crap that only gives me deagro no thanks. if i get aggro i'll just FD lol thanks for the info though. Sucks all the dps gods go to the bruisers.

none of them really are that great, i went with marr the cloak you get from his quest is definalty the best, he has some nice choices for dps also, like the 10 minute proc buff that works on every succeful attack, or the miracle that buffs crit% 50 and dps 50, but it also increases your hate and the immune miracle is also nice.

I'm really struggling with this one... Quellious is a joke... meh.

I'd like to hear ore about which deity folks are choosing, and why.

I am going Marr. Why? Cause I am a Froglok :smileytongue: He seems to be the best fit for a warrior class.

I'm also a froglok monk going with Marr. I looked quickly at a list of deity blessings and miracles. Rather than put TOO much thought into it, I figure I'll give Marr a chance. Honestly, nothing there really seems earth shattering. Some helpful ones if I were to raid, but I don't.

Atleast they made it so you can renounce your chosen god and go with another. And atleast the first 3 quests were easy and quick enough to work thru, solo, at level 64. Finished the first 3 in a couple hours total. I'll be starting the 4th quest tonight.

I'd suggest just choosing a god and starting on the quests. The quests themselves will give you enough Favor to try out the abilities a couple of times and see if you like them. Just don't sacrifice too many other items for now, and if you don't think your choice was that great, renounce and choose another god. Honestly not that big of an issue.

This might be a stupid question, but are Monks able to choose evil aligned Gods? I assume not but thought I would ask just to be sure. Thanks.

I'm very confused as to how deaggro is bad. Several people have scoffed at it. FD they say FD! Well. I don't do much damage with my face planted in the dirt. Our skills draw inordinant aggro for the damage they deal. Thats how we hold aggro (tested my 1k damage attack against a troubs. Even when the troub crits for 1.2k and I hit for 800 I still kept aggro. Order didn't matter.). So. Deaggro skills are very nice IMHO.

Having said that, if you want to DPS as a monk Marr is the way to go. Just choose the deaggro stance and get evade and thats all the deaggro you'll neeed to go all out.

unless you havent noticed theres plenty of deagro in the new aa lines too. if you cant keep yerself from consistenly gettin a buncha agro in a raid either you, your tank or the person who set up the groups is doin somethin wrong.

We scoff at Deaggro because in a properly setup raid a monk cannot pull enough DPS to pull aggro from MT.

Things may change in EoF. But Pre-EoF even 1500 dps wasn't enough to pull off MT.

That said I did both Quellious and Marr. Marr is current god for DPS from cloak. Once I get a better cloak I may switch to Brell. Or if aggro somehow magically becomes a problem with Monks pitiful DPS, then I may go back to Quellious.

Aggro for a monk is only a problem if MT/OT group isn't setup right.

Regards,

Croaker

70 monk deaths door, everfrost blah blah blah.

Exactly, if you have a decent tank you shouldnt have to worry about agro. I've never once stolen agro from a tank who knows his job.It could be that i've been blessed with a awesome MT in my guild, its just that agro is not a problem for me.

I am considering switching from Marr to Brell for more dps. Do you lose your cloak from your current diety when you do?

You don't lose your cloak, but at some point in the future it is rumored that Deity restrictions will be placed upon the cloaks special abilities.

Regards,

Croaker

The effectiveness of Marr's blessings and miracles when it comes to DPS is small now compared to how it was the entire time it was being tested. With divine debuffs and enough haste, you can pull out an extra 200-300 dps for ten minutes under the first tiered blessing. You can also pull that much out over the course of a minute with the swarm pet (third tier miracle). However, the targetted intercedes/HP buff have been changed from group and raid to solely group. Ah, if only you were in the MT group this would be fine, but that sadly never happens.Currently, I'm worshipping Marr, however since his benefits are... lacking... When my favor runs down from 45,000 to around 8,000, I'm going to take my cloak and then go thru to Quellious (for the cloak on the side) to either Brell for more DPS or Tunare for some sort of group utility. And if I start getting outdpsed by bards, I'm heading to Haven and worshipping Inny or Rallos (since you only lose masters when coming out of exile), or maybe even staying in Qeynos and picking up Sol Ro for incinerate. We've got a lot of options, they just take too much work, :

I actually went with Tunare. I'm not sure which miracles/blessings she gives, but her cloak adds 30 to healing spells. With 5 aa's in my heal, it now does 53%-60% heal of max health with the cloak on, which is very good imo. As for deagro, I've never had to worry about that as I group with alot of people who know how to taunt a mob, and as for dps, I don't do too bad and honestly a little more dps from a god isn't going to help the Monk Situation right now. So I went with heals as at least I can do that heal better than anyone else in the game and hey with Tsunami + intercede + heals and Evade, I'm doing pretty well. So yes, Tunare for me... for now. There might come a time when I forsake her just so do the other quests... as I need to do them all one day (all quests that is)

I'm wondering if the Tunare angle is a good way to go for me as my monk is primarily a solo character. Having extra healing power could be a big boon, esp. if FD fails. I still have two lvls to get to 25 so weighing all the options atm.

Cloak of tranquility seems to be the best cloak to me. 8 second stun. If target takes dmg will it break stun? Also, what are the pet buffs for Quellious, Mar, and The Tribunal? I looked at wiki and it didn't say. Brell and the above mentioned are the ones I'm trying to decide between. Thanks for any info.

Tribunal is a good choice as well. The cloak has a Stun proc, and one of the blessings is a 20% damage to health conversion, which will curb damage taken. Also the one miracle adds damage to attacks, as well as upping DPS by 40.

No Karana? I thought the Miracles were pretty nice. And the boost to Wis.

Miracles

Shroud of Clouds (922 favor) - Decreases hate gain. Caster will dodge 25% of incoming attacks. Increases spell damage. Must have completed the quest "Forging a Bond".

Unyielding Ice Storm (1076 favor) - Decreases attacks speed, slows, decreases mitigation vs cold and inflicts cold damage on targets in area of effect.

Baleful Storm (1229 favor) - Stuns caster. Throws target back. Inflicts magic damage. Must have completed the quest "Shards of Frost & Fire".

Tempest (1383 favor) - Makes caster immune to root, mesmerize, stun, fear, stifle, and daze effects. Increases melee crit chance of caster by 50%.
