Gonna throw my $.02 in here...

Personally, I think that AA choices are based on the type of weapon that you use, what type of monk you are choosing to play (Primarily Tank, or DPS) and if the majority of your playtime is solo, groups, or raids.

Myself, I have chosen to Use Dual wield fist weapons, and went 4-5-8-8 sta and 4-4-8-8 int, this seems to be a common setup from what I have seen, gives a decent ranged attack on the pull which will debuff the mobs sta for around 115 or so if I remember correctly, sta line also gives an additional chance at a proc for damage. Int line increases my melee crit chance, and adds to avoidance.

Str line is for those that choose to go bare fisted, and the double attacks and all that are really quite nice, but with the new expansion adding the ability to have adornments placed on your gear and weapons actually using a weapon will give another slot or 2 for these adornments.

From what I have read in previous posts is that going the Str line and using bare fists is the way to go until you have some nice t7 fabled dual wield weapons, and then respec based on what you have. Not having had the chance to check out the new haste changes, I cannot comment on how fast you can actually swing on auto-attack with a nice 2hd maul or staff, that very well could turn out to be the most efficient setup though.

I'm sure that out of 500 monks you will find 500 different setups and weapon combos, play around with it until you are happy with your char.

/Salute

I am kinda in the same boat as the poster. I played a monk a little over a year ago (before KOS and AA's) and just started back to the game and my monk. I have started pooling AA points but did not know which way to go with them.

I will primarily be the tank for my group.

I haven't even hit 50 AA's yet but here is my plan in the KOS AA line.

I'm a raider, so that has a big effect on what I choose.

I went up the AGI line for the FD buff. The key is to NOT get yourself killed like a noob with this buff cuz it has a 15 min reuse timer. OK it only does any good 10% of the time but when it works, you will be a hero amongst the guildies on those ubber tough raid mobs.

I am staying away from (I believe) the wisdom line. (the one with a skill that gives you a chance to hit all mobs within range. I might not understand this line completely...but I'm still staying away from it soooo I could be comepletely wrong on this comment) because our coercer always has something mezzed and not only do you wake them up when you smack them in the head...but often times in the raid zones VERY BAD things happen when you hit the adds that NEED to stay mezzed or it can lead to a raid wipe. (who cares if your not on the top of the parse...all that matters is if you finish the zone or not. BEING BENEFITIAL TO THE RAID FTW)

Last but not least, I decided to go with the INT line for the crit chances just to use up the rest. Plus I'm believing the rumors that INT effects the chances of your taunts being resisted or not.

Message Edited by vcjester on 11-15-2006 12:03 PM

All your CA's except for any weapon specific AA line attacks will work just fine. The dps monks all seem to go with the str line for the ubber double hit chance and the intel line for the crit chance. Until you get some 60+ dps rated duel wields that'll probably be your best dps combo.
Message Edited by vcjester on 11-16-2006 12:13 AM
