<DIV>I am a brand new player in EQ2. After doing some research and playing a few classes until rank 10 or so, I would now like to enjoy the whole game with a monk. What tradeskill would you recommend? (Tailoring for leather/cloth/bags/hex dolls?) (Alchemy for fighter CAs/potions/poisons?) (Provisioner for some sweet cooking?)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From a pure "theme" and "fun" (as opposed to utility) perspectives, I do not think I will enjoy Weaponsmith, Armorer, Sage, Jeweler, Carpenter and Woodsworker. (I also do not wish to do Transmuter and Tinkerer because there will be so many more experienced players do these tradeskillers after expansion comes out).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As you can imagine, I have NO cash, so I would not mind picking something that would bring in some money. (I enjoy harvesting quite a bit and would like to turn these raws into something valuable.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would greatly appreciate your advice on all of this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>See you all in game,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>New EQ2 Player</DIV>

Alchemist! You will constatnly be upgrading skills and can sell potions/poisons as well as upgrade for other fighter classes.

<P>With alchemy, your big sales will be the AD3's. Those take rares.</P> <P>Personally, my monk took tailoring. Bags, leather armor, cloth for the couple of squishies I have as alts. Of course, again the good armor will take a rare for the tier, plus the imbuing.</P>

<DIV>There is virtually no money to be made in tailoring up until tier 6/7.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is zero market for the common crafted leather and cloth armor. You'd be lucky to sell that crap for the cost of the fuel to make it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The only mastercrafted leahter and cloth that seem to sell quickly are tiers 2 and 3... mainly because high levels players like equipping their alts in the best and cheapest armors..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Backpacks.. well you'll be lucky to sell them at cost. You can get 14/16 slotters for less than 3 gold each (on my server anyway) and there are lots of bags available as quest rewards. Most classes seem have excessive strength and don't think twice about carrying around strongboxes, despite their 100lb weight.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hex dolls sell fairly well, but their stats scale horribly with tiers. A (tier 2) Burlap hex doll has +9 to a stat while a (tier 7) Drangons breath hex doll has +14 to a stat . </DIV> <DIV>The difference in price for a Sisal root and a Nimbus root is roughly 1 plat. Nobody is going to pay 1 plat for +5 to a single stat. The clicky effect has situational uses which means some people will pay for a tier 7 doll, but most people will never use the click effect.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The mastercrafted leather and cloth armor will sell, but I have found that they are difficult to sell if you price them even 10% more than the value of the rare. I made full sets of tier 4/5 mastercrafted cloth almost 3 weeks ago and priced them at 20 and 30g per piece, repsectively. As of last night I have sold 4 individual pieces. I don't even bother with mastercrafted leather anymore unless it's a made-to-order request. Tiers 2-5 leathers are regularly selling on the broker for around 10g.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I only picked up tailoring because most of my characters are casters. And it's nice to be able to make my own armor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You'd be best off doing alchemy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Effie on <span class=date_text>11-10-2006</span> <span class=time_text>04:11 PM</span>

Alchemists make fighter CAs, potions, poisons, and what else? Are potions as popular in EQ2 as they are in WoW for example?

I'de say tailor. Contrary to the poster above, I have found tailoring to be incredibly profitable. It's my sole source of income and I am easily able to afford all adept IIIs/master I's and mastercrafted or better armor for my monk.
