I hope to God the dev team will rethink the changes to monks in the upcoming changes. throughout eq2 history, beta have been a nice experience for monks. then when stuffs have gone live *BOOM* Massive nerf to the monk class. people are getting fed up with this. I'M getting fed up with this total ignorance towards an entire class. I'm sure alot of you guys are with me on this... if they [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] us over again in the new expansion... I'll [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing quit!

Message Edited by Perfidious1 on 11-03-2006 03:27 PM

Brawlers always seem to get the shaft. The devs can't decicde to make brawlers tanks or DPS. If we can tank good then the plate wearing tanks cry if we do alot of DPS the scouts cry.

We have always been a versitle class. For anyone who played EQ1 and was familiar with the Druid class you will remember the "jack of all trades / master of none" type of character.

I have always enjoyed EQ2's Monk versitility. We can tank for xp groups until the group can get a "real" ( plate ) tank and when the group has a plate tank we can provide better than average DPS.

The raid Monk is of course used for DPS, our avoidance buff and group haste. Even more important is our ability to throw a "mend" (heal) on the MT in a Raid in order to help the healers catch up ( especially during the pull ). I usually end up at around #5 or # 6 on our raid parse. I average in the 700 - 800 DPS range and if I am in a group where I get a DPS buff and the timing of the fight is just perfect I can hit 1k. However, Swashys, Assassins, Wizards, Warlocks and surprizingly even Berzerkers out DPS me consistantly or semi-consistantly based on their own abilities as well as having the right buffs. I am sure that some of my other guildies could out DPS me if they choose to but many are very conscious of pulling agro or don't pound their hot keys as fast as humanly possible.

My point is that I love the versitility of our class and always have. I know that some of you long to be the MT of a raid and I understand your desire even though I don't share it. Seeing that Monks get an AA ability to decrease threat to target by 661-1102 with EoF shows that we may continue to be slowly steered more in the direction of DPS.

Since I find that a good 80 - 85% of the time I am in a DPS role, I welcome any improvements to our DPS along with the needed ability to not pull agro. As long as we have enough tanking ability to tank for expierence groups, I am a happy Monk. :smileyhappy:

I know that not all in the community will share my feelings and that is o.k. I just hope that the versility that I have enjoyed with my class continues throughout EQ2's existance and I hope that the majority in the Monk community enjoy's it as well.

I don't think we all want to be MT's in a raid. Our aggro management wouldn't warrant us being one anyway.

We should however be able to tank single target encounters just as well as the rest though to make us formidable off tanks.

I'm also willing to bet i'll have maxed the rest of my AA's within a few weeks after expansion hits. I enjoy playing the game and prefer to tank when not raiding. I'd also prefer to play the game more than a few weeks so I can tank encounters well above and beyond experience groups.

As far as an ability not to pull aggro; I am lvl 70, fully fabled, fully mastered. I have at least 10 fabled weapons. I usually parse 800-1000+ in every situation while not tanking. When our guild MT Guardian is tanking, and he has a dirge or assassin in group, I NEVER steal aggro even with my hate proc buff turned on. I do this while going pretty much all out on DPS.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you are happy.

With all that spare time maybe a Guardian alt is a good idea ? Sorry that you feel that you will plow through all the new content within a few weeks and max out your new AAs. Maybe mix in a few other games or something ?

I'm glad your glad that I am happy. :smileywink:

I think they need to merge classes. I mean 24 classes would be nice if we had double the player population that we do now, but everyone is just making or betraying to a small portion of classes. This usually means that the classes they betrayed from, or quit playing, are unbalanced in comparison to their counterparts (for example most monks going to bruiser). One of these days they might start listening to the player base more (right now they are like oh the players know nothing, this post is just another whine fest of the good ole days). When they pull their heads out of the ground, or their [Removed for Content], something might be done. I doubt this will happen with current staffing though, I mean FT girl FTMFW, and with the few people who did listen to the layer base leaving, where are we left...?

Many knows my preference, I play a class what it is, I play it as a fighter, a tank; not scout...

Current AA setup is far from pleasing me, actually makes me want to betray more. I think it is time to combine those two classes and make one stable one. We are supposed to be defensive fighters, that is why I picked monk of EQ2. Now I'm seeing we are nowhere close to defense compared to Bruisers, still inferiror on DPS compared to Bruisers.

So, all I'm saying, that's it! They really need to move their vision out of "moorgard's mind" and look at both classes and really pick which needs serious attention "AS A FIGHTER class, NOT SCOUT"

Ive all but decided I am Selch. Ive picked up everything I need to do it, but Im holding out a little bit longer to see if there's any class specific changes that improves the monk in either tanking or DPS over the bruiser. Id love to hear Gaige's perspective on things.
