<DIV>Hello, I have a complaint about the Monk AA line. When I earned my 2nd AA and was able to put a point into one of the 5 choices, I finaly took the time to study them all to determine the best choices to go with (I hadn't played my monk in a while and hadn't really gotten around to it yet) and after studying the choices a bit, I found myself seriously dissapointed in the requirements for each line.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Specifically, theres the following 5 requirements for each line at one point or another. </DIV> <DIV>One: No weapons equipped</DIV> <DIV>Two: 1 handed or DW Staff equipped</DIV> <DIV>Three: 2 handed Staff equipped</DIV> <DIV>Four: Fist weapon equipped</DIV> <DIV>Five: throwing weapon equipped in range slot</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, the problem I have with this is it completely ignores the other weapon types we can use, like Mace and Hammer (DW or otherwise) so my question is, why can't the 1-H/DW Staff and the 2-H Staff choices be changed to "Crush" for each type, rather than specifying only Staves?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not to mention that I don't know many monks that use NO weapons at all (fist weapons being the closest to that I've ever noticed a monk using)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I realize that this complaint will do no good, but this type of AA requirement setup is just completely unthought out and doesn't seem fair by any means. I hope the Devs take the time to re-examine these choices and make some changes in them.</DIV>

It practically demands that we pack as much STR gear as possible.</FONT>

Sitting at lvl 69 monk...I have no Calamitys or insane DW weapon...so I went down the weaponless AA line. Being weaponless automatically gives me a 20% DPS boost. Add a Acryrilla STR ring and my buddy Inquis..my DPS mod can get kinda crazy<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I have a chance to double hit on 96% of my attacks, and usally have 90%+ haste. I can do lots of Damage(for me). If I'm the MT of our group (instances/SOS/POA) I throw some 2HD weapon in..usally the Awakened Battle Hammer?(the one with the 140+ to crushing/resists/heal proc). I love the weaponless AA line...I like the animations/DPS. Having all my slots full of STR stuff.....+ Str potions I never seem to be hurting towards hitting the cap as it stands now.

I was only saying I've never seen a monk go without SOME kind of weapons before personaly and the only reason I can think of where one might do so is for RP purposes (to me anyway, having good weapons equipped is just more useful than not, though this is just my opinion mind you)</P> <P>That being said, that particular point of mine was more by way of a side note and doesn't address the primary gist of my post, that being the singling out of having to have staves in particular equipped to benefit from some of the AAs and not using the "Crush" specification instead.</P> <P>To my way of thinking, the 5 AA requirements should be something like as follows (with these being in no particular order versus which AA line they should go with):</P> <P>One: Fist Weapons (These also including the use of fists alone as weapons)</P> <P>Two: One handed and Dual Wield Crush Weapons</P> <P>Three: Two Handed Crush Weapons</P> <P>Four: Throwing Weapon in Ranged Slot</P> <P>Five: Gi on Chest Slot (lol maybe maybe not, just seems like a cool choice as an option for those that go with Gis)</P> <P>I suppose if the Gi option is too much, One can be made for Fist Weapons and Five into No Weapons (or vice-versa), but the ones I listed just seemed to cover the widest variety.</P> <P>Anyways, thats just an idea....</P>

<P>Bear in mind that when using DW weapons, you only need the appropriate type of weapon in your primary slot, and anything can be used in the secondary. Also, with the exception of str, you gain the benefits of all but one box from the other lines regardless of what weapon you have equipped. The weapon requirements are minimally restrictive, and the passive buffs are the ones that make the most difference. The weapon-dependent attacks have minimal effect.</P> <P>The drastic benefits in the str line are there to make fighting barehanded be competitive with using weapons. Unmodified barehands at level 70 are equivalent to a 1-handed weapon with a DR of 56ish and a delay of 2.5. Maximizing the offensive skills in the str line modifies your barehanded attack such that it is roughly the equivalent of a weapon with a 105 DR, or comparable to a high end 2-hander. The drawback being that you do not gain any procs or buffs that you would normally enjoy from filling your weapon slots.</P>

<DIV>Of the three classes I have played through AA's, all have a weapon requirement on at least one of their attacks in each line, most more.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Crusaders have lines requiring axes, hammers, swords, spears, and a SYMBOL (for the off hand). Bards have RAPIER (no, not sword), sword, dagger, bow, and something else I don't recall.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Everyone has something similar, some get hit harder than others, I personally think brawlers have it kind of light on that respect.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oalu, Monk</DIV>

This doesn't just effect one part of the line, the whole line is fubbar without the buckler. We all have to make a choice. Thank gawd for reset, even if it gets spendy down the road. </DIV><p>Message Edited by vcjester on <span class=date_text>10-26-2006</span> <span class=time_text>04:17 PM</span>
