Ok here we see the relic for monks (chest piece) and the excarnate (legs and gloves). What were they thinking??? It's a blasted mini skirt in non soga mode... I won't even bring up the wraps of torment.O.o I mean... come on...

hmm, I thought the pants are hideous. Wore the leather monk/bruiser robe for awhile to cover it.Unitl I got the chest item. Now I'm marginally presentable.Zenithan, you think it's a miniskirt? Try a female char all covered up in that leather...I'd say: more skin on women! (no offense intended here for al those sensitive characters out there)The only pro is: all the men are fascinated with all the little buttons on it, hehe. They keep trying to undo them......At least I can run into a group of mobs and fd. Then they can't reach me, LOL!

Personally I think it looks fine on female characters. Though I do agree I'd rather show off more skin.

Tune up the detail setting for cloth simulation and the stretchy look goes away.

The real problem with the flaps is when you move and a second flap suddely appears fluttering in the wind while the original remains in place plastered to your buttocks - similar to the hood issue on robes.

its really time the art teams come up with some fantasy / xena looking armors instead of these leather coveralls , my take on EQ2 armor is that it has the worst Armor models while having a super great graphics engine to power some sweet looking stuff

its time they start doing something with it

good thing i got full excarnate , at least its red , i hated the patchwork blue , red and green look

I prefer the current leather models and the occasional gi to leather and suede bikinis. The EQ2 staff went with a more realistic/historic look with their armors, and that adds to the immersion for me. Sure, there is a bit of extra ornamentation, but they are functional for the most part. Leather bikinis or wow-style cartoon suits with grossly exagerrated features would clash horribly with the feel of the world. Stylistically, I have always thought of eq2 as looking like a masterwork painting in motion (at least when the old vid card can handle it ).

I also like armor that shows my arms on my monk. A monk should have less restrictive armor even if its classed as leather.I think it was one of the Guild Wars sights that had a picture of what they call a ritualist... I thought that would be intriguing armor/wardrobe for a monk...

Relic chest should have "Gi of the Ashen Disciple" art to cover all, not other SM stuff. And for skin, I dont mind skin covered rather than our classes are picked "just to fashion show".
Message Edited by selch on 10-18-2006 09:18 AM

No I think what makes it a miniskirt is that it goes just above the knees. Also there's a "flap" on the sides and back. Another odd thing, the skin disease texture used for the leggings part of them. Honestly it looks like a kilt. I'm a monk... And the Gi's don't look monk like either. They look like some sort of tissue paper bondage gear.Nope, sorry. Nothing "monk" like about that. Charging into battle against dragons barefoot, nipples to the wind, and with that weird S&M strap on my chest... at least the female version looks better. There's a actual chest piece and such.EDIT: My rice bowl hat looks perfeclty fine in soga, no edges cut or anything.
Message Edited by ZenTouma on 10-18-2006 05:53 PM

Point is PSUBULLET;Photo of those monks are not fighters, they are more priests than fighters.Even I hate the all anime drawing of GW (and strongly hate all SOGA in EQ2) following would be neat armor to wear (Yet better, let us wear Gi as in cloak slot over our casual armor) so I can re-use my Gi of the Ashen Disciple PS: While I agree that I don't like "blanket" Gi, they are basically formed from ancient armors and outfits.
Message Edited by selch on 10-19-2006 03:54 AM

I linked the wrong picture. See there are many types of monks.AndrewSquared posted a picture of Christian Monks. They perform exorcisms, tend to the sick and spread the word of Christianity in far off countries. My first picture was of buddhist monks; nonaggressive devout worshippers of Buddha whom help the poor at times, but mostly sit in seclusive prayer from society. And what I really meant to link was this picture:This is a drawing of a Shaolin monk, the one that the monk class in both EQ1 and EQ2 is clearly based upon. They are the buddhist soldier monks that protected the Shaolin temple in China. They are known throughout history to withstand immense physical pain and have unfathomable vitality. Many of the EQ2 monk attacks are actually named after Shaolin attacks, great job devs on this research!I know that SOE says what an EQ2 monk looks like. However they have, from time to time, been swayed by, /gasp, opinions!
Message Edited by psubullet on 10-19-2006 03:07 PM

Silk kung fu gi is what I am looking for as well. I love the sketch, psubullet. That outfit would make me a happy monky indeed.

I would kill, I mean absolutely KILL, for one of those shaolin style outfits for my female monk. Orange would be alright, but I would really love a more subdued colour. But, I think if they ever did put something like this in game, it would only look like this for males. Ours would probably be crotchless or something

Also, a classic black kung fu style suit, with white trim would be nice. This could be done with the current PJ style female gi, just needs a recolour. The male counterpart could use the ashen gi graphic. Maybe black pants with black and white boots, and white arm wraps.

The clothes they put on the whistling fist npcs at least come close. I'd be glad to have an outfit like that, even.

I've got to sign up to a shaolin/kung fu monk look. Just sweated literally hours away to get blood drenched gi. As a Wood elf its too embarrassing to wear. Something to cover up my skinny (but rock hard) pecs please!

Love that Shaolin look myself...love those wrapped shoe/boots. They make sense. Keep the pants out of being trippable and protect our feet while still keeping us light and fluid LOVE IT. I wish they would do something like that with a wrap type jacket/shirt. I'd even roll a bald female barbarian for that one (My little wood elf would look a tad ridiculous bald haha)
