<DIV>I, for one, am very happy that with the change I will be able to resume at least a viable off-tank role in raid when neccessary. Now, heres to hoping that now that avoidance values are checked truly, we can reach a state of parity with our bruiser brothers, who atm make us feel like "Timmay!" off of South Park.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Although this announced change has me very hopeful, I am very curious to see what the new aa's are going to bring. But class changes have not be announced, so I personally am still in limbo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just because we may tank better now, doesn't mean that guilds are going to view more than one brawler neccessary.</DIV>

Im hoping they take the class specific aa as an opportunity to tweak monks also to be as good as a bruiser. ATM bruisers have better tanking and better dps (at least better grp/solo dps where their higher damage CA count more anyways, altho i admit there isnt really a lot in it for raids). It would be nice if monks would have the edge in either tanking or dps and stay behind for the other, personally i dont care which but atm we are neither.

<DIV>Just looking around on different classes that has evi/good versions... I dunno, freeport has always tended to have less population then qeynos and its almost like they are tryin to equal out the population via classes. Bruiser/monks, asssassain/ranger, coercer/illusionist, brigand/swashie etc. All these classes have some disparities that especially shows in endgame raiding enviorements. Just the impression Im getting as time goes by.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

You are quite rightBrigands > SwashbucklersShadowknights > Paladins (Even they both suck as brawlers too in terms of usefullness)Bruisers > MonksNecromancer > ConjurorDefiler > MysticSounds very right statement.

I went from being awesome damage / tanking (as far as non-warriors go) as a bruiser to "meh" as a monk. I had my reasons for changing, and dont really regret it. I figure one of these days, they have to make monk good, so I might just have to rough it out til then.</div>

<DIV>I personally hope they increase our DPS abilities, or make us more utility, most raiding guilds have plenty of plate tanks to take care of the tanking, they dont need my help even with the tanking advantages we gain from the changes, I would much rather be able to pump out some nice DPS or debuff/buff more effectively. I don't like to tank much, and I think alot of other monks prefer DPSing, but I could be wrong :smileyvery-happy:</DIV>

<DIV>You know, after thinking a bit more, i will go 1 step further, I think monks oughtta be more similar to Brigands/swashbucklers, let me demonstrate my reasoning:</DIV> <DIV>Scout archetype</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers/assasins = what i would consider pure scout DPS</DIV> <DIV>Brigands/swashys = a mix between a tank and a scout DPS/utility</DIV> <DIV>Troubs/dirges = mostly a scout utility, but mixed with mages</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've seen a similar setup with other archetypes</DIV> <DIV>but theres a probelm with fighters</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Warriors = pure tanks (except zerkers have sick nasty DPS for some reason)</DIV> <DIV>Crusaders = mix of healing and tank, although SKs have some mage-like qualities</DIV> <DIV>Brawlers = ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Brawlers are supposed to be avoidance tanks, but I ask why</DIV> <DIV>2/3 scout groups are DPS</DIV> <DIV>but bards dont do good damage at all, so what I am saying is why not make monks different by far from the other two fighters groups. Such as make us on the slightly more tank-like side of Brigs/swashys on the spectrum, or, even make us more utility, either give us debuffs, or better group buffs. To clarify the statement ab out brigs and swashys i mean if we made a spectrum where each class going from left to right becomes less tank and more DPS/utility, omitting healers =). The spectrum would go Guardians Zerkers etc... as there are bigger differences in DPS and Tanking, there is more space, and as such tanks would be grouped at the left, and Scouts/Mages would be grouped from the middle to the right, I am saying that monks ought to be more in with Brigs and Swashys, followed by Assasins/Rangers, just like how bards would be closer to mages than the rest of the scouts, monks would be closer to scouts than the rest of the fighters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>BTW anytime i said monk by accident i meant brawler =)</DIV> <DIV>I hope you all followed what i just said and id love some feedback on whether this is a good idea or not, its a work in progress, not that i feel there is any hope SOE would take advice from lil' ol' me.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Regpyr on <span class=date_text>10-03-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:50 PM</span>
