Just hit 40 and was wondering what makes this ability so usefull? It increases your mit by about 700(app1), but stuns you for 30 seconds...this seems kind of pointless, or am I missing something

Yeah I'm not finding anything useful of the Stone Stance line. Mountain stance is great, but Stone Stance... well since the only thing you can do is taunt, but considering how weak our taunts are that we control agro by applying damage, it serves a very limited application.

yeah that whole line is a crual joke played on all monks by the development team. Unless you buy a symbol of stability which makes you immune to stuns for 1 minute, its a complete waste.

I use it once i've used all my stuns and CA's and i'm waitin on cool down timers. tsunami can buy you some easy time for stuff like that but you may as well boost your mitigation up to 80% for 30 seconds then just hit it again to turn it off once most of your CA's are back up again

AFAIK it's not very useful. I can find an ocaisional excuse to use it, but that's pretty rare.

Least used skill ever...Yeah, there are sometimes where you can use it, but once in a life time if you have extra DPS people with you and got enough aggro...It is "cancellable", however being it 3 seconds cast (unlike Bruiser version being instant) makes it even more useless...

I am a monk. I'm not going to stand like a rock letting myself beat upon. I leave that particular skill to all the tin cans out there.so... No. I never use it.

I can think of one or two raid uses for it or one or two more raid situations i've actually used it in.

I have some use for that stance, albeit little. If I draw aggro during a raid, I cannot just feign because I've messed up the aggro list. It might go after a caster. So I hit Tsunami, and then click that stance, which also stops my autoattack. I always survive, and it's always enough time for you to lose aggro back to the tank. I lucked out and got Mountain Stance for 1p20g.

I use it the way supple just said a lot... I also use it when grouping with no healer and I'm tanking... lock in aggro, boost mit, let the other kill them... have more hps left to go on to the next fight instead of waiting for regen between...

Having said that... it's very limited in its use.

What Rrawl and Supple said. Great opportunity to give agro back if taken and maybe... just maybe when tanking if you're confident agro control is met. I'll also use it during hard namers after mashing rescue, as I can still single taunt - but take note: I've NEVER used it the full duration. Maybe 15-20seconds tops.

Now our Skin Like Mountain line I use all the time - particularly while solo'ing. If I'm tanking, and find my healers are not experienced or just watching the football game (you know who you are) I'll use it if I feel confident that the mob will not peel. Even then, if it does - it's easily cancelled.

One thing to make our mit line CA's a saving grace: Reduce the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] casting time.

Devs? One more time: Reduce the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] casting time.

Thank you.

About the only times Ive used it are:

1.) when pulling for a group. I try to grab mobs and pull them to the MT right about the time they are finishing the first one. If there's an add or the mob's not down for some reason, I just taunt, park myself close and use the stance while giving the MT time to pull it off when they are ready.

2.) giving groupmates more time to run away if no evac is available or desired, then I can FD and hope I time it right/don't fail FD.

other than that, never really use the skill.

They still need to replace that line, maybe make it into a mit/resist boost that requires 1 to 2 consentration instead of stun.

Once upon a time A Dev working on Monk CAs came up with a stance that would increase our Mitigation greatly but at a cost.

Unfortunately this Dev was unaware that "stun" and "stifle" were 2 different things.

What he was supposed to do was put a "S-T-I-F-L-E" on this ability, that way we can still use our auto attack and thus we can still proc our hate proc buff ( Storm Advance ) and possibly hold agro better. Instead he put a stun on it and made it all but useless.

Now, if some kind intelligent Dev would come along and make this slight change this CA would actually be useful ! ( HINT HINT HINT HINT HINT ! )

I can think of many many more nerfs to the plate tanks that have happened compaired to everything that monks have been nerfed with.

Anyway, they should just change the Mountain line.

Instead of stunning us and giving us extreme defense, they should just change it so we get rooted in place, get extreme defense, but lose like 4000 offensive points instead.
