Hi all... this is my first time playing EQ2 and the subject says it all. I have a buddy playing a Fury, and another Berzerker and thought a Monk would be a good fit with them.My one question, how is Monk at end game? Are they wanted in groups?Thx.

However, a troubador or dirge might be better useful for success of Berserker - Fury duo.

If you are concerned about the end game mostly, Monk may not be your best choice...though I don't play the end game.....they are not all that sought after I am afriad. But, over all, one of the best classes to play.

Sincd you already have a tank and a healer, a DPS oriented toon with a robust hate transfer ability might be a better choice.

I haven't done any end-game content with my Monk, so I can't help you there.

However, my main is a Swashbuckler and I've trioed a lot with a Fury and a Berzerker. We always made a potent team. DPS and debuffing is always lovely. I'f you decide against a Monk and go the scout route, I'd go Rogue or Bard class. Though, if you learn the Monk class well, you can still do a pretty good amount of DPS and be a reliable backup should the Zerker go down. Really, it comes down to your personal preference. If you want to roll a Monk, do so As long as you and your team know your classes, have a combat plan and communicate properly, you'll do well.

For the group you specified, for end-game and for grouping I would say a dps class is a better choice for all those 3 (mkay the group aspect depends on the actual group).Monks are versatile and great soloers but there are classes that are better for what your asking. From personal gaming experience I can recommend brigands or swashies.

I watched a brigand out tank me last night on a gorenaire fight because he has the same avoidance, plus way more mitigation because of his chain, it is horrible, and he is a mediocore brigand skill wise and gear wise.Go rogue, brigand or swashy, more dps, needed mroe on raids, and better tanks.

Short Answer: No

Long Answer: I don't really think so.(read:no)

Any scout would work well especially a bard Power regen + buffs is a really good fit for that group

i group with an pally, fury, and me the monk... and we work well togather better then most people. as a monk i can give an extra heal ever so often, i can pull off adds on the fury and i have lots of tricks to save the group without going back to the start. as for the end game i still get invited to groups and i play her still the most out of any my characters. as a monk i can give dps and still tank if i need to be since we can tank better some things then the metal tanks.

fre'do wrote:
i group with an pally, fury, and me the monk...

A monk can do more DPS without stealing agro when teamed with a Pally (because of amends). In the setup mentioned by the OP, a monk would be stuck with doing relatively low dps, or forever stealing agro. Better to use a dps class with solid agro transfer capabilities.

But with that combo a fury can keep both alive easily. besides the fury can zap for alot of dps.

A monk will trio fine with a zerker and fury, and is a very enjoyable class to play. You mention the end game though, and if you're referring to end game raiding, the path of the Monk is a difficult one to follow. You will have to exemplify yourself as a skilled player who has mastered their class to the utmost, and find a raiding group that will recognize that, to secure yourself a good position for end game raid content. If this is your goal, you would probably be better served to play any of the scouts or mages, as a class that would still add well to your trio and find a more desireable position for end game raids. Bards and Enchanters are always in high demand as people just naturally play the support classes less. Rogues, Predators, and Summoners are always desired for their DPS, and I'd shy away from Sorcerers, they just need some work.

If you still choose to play the monk, master the class, and forge your way based on your own skill and ability rather then class choice, I salute you. :smileywink:
