n00b weapon question

Whatever you do don't get a 1h weapon. Go with either a "dual wield" (big difference than 1h... can't dual wield 1h weapons like you could in previous games) or 2h. If you're a soloer I would have to assume you don't have access to raid loot. In that case I would go with the best you can afford/find on the broker. Unless you can get 2 really good dual wield weapons, go with the 2h (and even then people will argue over what is better). You can go bare handed but from what I've heard the proc changes on double attack really toned down the effectiveness of it. Furthermore you need quite a few AP points in STR for it to even be a viable option.
