<DIV>I just got back to the game after 2 years of WoW. That game was sucking up my life too much, so I finally decided to get back to EQ2.</DIV> <DIV>My question is regarding class choices for myself. My main goal is to solo, but not just solo grinding, I want to be able to take out ^^^ named bosses and get "teh phat lewtz". Alot of ppl say that monks shine in that aspect. They have sick DPS, decent tanking, and many abilities that alow them to go anywhere in the game. On the other hand, you have zerkers. They're great in tanking, decent in DPS, and get to use prett much every item in the game(weps/armor). I like the idea of zerkers wearing the heaviest armor and getting to use both dual wield and 2H to dish out their damage. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My question to the monk/zerker community is:</DIV> <DIV> Is there a huge diffrence between the 2 classes in terms of soloing near impossible mobs, or does one class out shine the other. If they're almost identical I will obviously pick zerker, but will like to hear from the veterans that have played these classes for a while now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've posted this thread in both the Monk and Zerker forum to get both sides of the story.</DIV>

I got Monk & Zerker. Even my main is monk for RP reasons and past, Berserker (in terms of tanking, area dpsing etc.) overrules monk. Monk is good for single target DPS and not that good tank as a plate obviously. However what you need is Monk since we got some more solo survivability tools, such as invisibility, feign dead etc. But to be able to beat ^^^ at your levels or blues, you would seriously need heavily raid equipped. We are good at solo, against solo mobs, and fairly low heroics if you don't have any raid equipment. But I'm seeing some monks that can solo blue heroics however they are ofcourse, fully raid-equipped players.<p>Message Edited by selch on <span class=date_text>08-20-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:56 AM</span>

<DIV>If you want to farm names monk all the way.  Not only can they get passed any see invis mobs but you can get to the name in a fraction of the time(just train until named feign death then fight) Monks can also DW or use a 2h. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Soloing is really safe with a monk, you get a ton of combats arts to aid you.  Feign death is one of my favorite abilities in the game, if you bit off more then you can chew you can end the encounter with no punishment.  Monks have the can also pump out some decent damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another thing about monks is you can get armor for cheap(rare pelts are super cheap).  And for the named farming you cant really use the stuff you win because the named will be so much lower.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have a high lvl zerker and monk and I personally like my monk better for solo and grouping(even tanking).</DIV>

All that being said, Bruiser is the nastiest fighter fer soloing Named Mobs between the Monk and Bruiser. So, Monks are way better than Zerker for the OP, but Bruisers are a better than Monks fer killing the Named fer lewt. Monks are a great clas though and are better fer group play.:smileywink:

<DIV>I actualy only have legendary/claymore gear (prety much everything good outside of raid gear) and I have soloed names upwards of lvl 68 on several ocasions. Highest lvl named so far is the lvl 68 ravesect named right outside of den. Every named in SoS can be soloed easily with a monk without raid gear.</DIV>

You cant say Bruisers are better. They are better soloing melee named, if they try fighting a caster named there [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] gets [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing pwned. If monks try fighting caster they dont get us under 90%. Bruisers have spike DPS monk have consistant DPS. Gear + Master 1 spells + aa lines + skill is whos better,  I garuntee i can beat any bruiser in a duel, or farming named, Def. tanking, training on unrest. Im full T7 fabled and every master 1 except Everburning Blaze (Grrr). Im sitting at 8800 hp and about 3k mit so its not who's class is better its skill an gear and al the other [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] i said. /rant off <div></div>
