<DIV>Ok, I have been away from the game for a fair while so I am fairly green now.  Well I was thinking of creating a Wood Elf Monk.  I was curious what would be the best choice of trade skills to focus on.  Also I was wondering if I should put my starting stats mostly into str or sta (I suspect that my agi will already be high enough though if it would be overly useful I could put them into there).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Keep in mind I fully expect to be soloing or in small groups for the most part.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also keep in mind that I am fully aware of the fact that starting stats don't mean a whole lot but since I don't expect to hit 50 any time soon my early on stats do actually matter to me somewhat.</DIV>

<DIV>Well first I suggest that you read a lot around this forum to get familiar with the monk.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for stats, are you talking PvE or PvP? Because you want different results for either.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In PvE, the common ways for a monk to go (that Ive seen/heard) was to either put everything in Agility (boosting your avoidance since your Mit won't be very impressive as a cloth/leather wearer), or to balance it out between Strength, Agililty, and Stamina. However, it's been a while since I've talked monk PvE with someone, so thinks may have changed :smileywink: Either way, at least you know that those three stats are the golden three for monks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For PvP, you either want to put most in Strength (high DPS) or most in Wisdom (high resists). You kind of abandon agility because avoidance won't save your life as much as high resists.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well that's my 2 cents as a semi-experienced monk user, so I'm sure others will be able to ellaborate or correct my comments. Good luck :smileyhappy:</DIV>

<P>Well I am somewhat experienced with Monks from EQ so I thought it a safe bet that agi, str, and end would be the primary stats for a Monk in EQ2.</P> <P> </P> <P>Anyways, odds are I am going to end up on a PvE server (that is where most people I know are playing) however any PvP build information would be useful as I do enjoy myself some PvP every now and then.</P>

<P>PvE = STR / AGI / STA   ( Not a lot of exp for PvE, but these seem to be the favorites )</P> <P> </P> <P>PvP = WIS / STR / STA  ( In PvP Wisdon whould be your main stat.  Resists is what's going to keep you alive.  STR coming in a strong second.  This is how you dish out all your DPS.  I have seen a lot of Monks who don't even bother with WIS.  That is a terrible mistake.  I have very high resists and will resist a high number of magic attacks.  I plan to max out every single magic attack resist.  I went down the line of WIS on my AA.  I have Masters or Adept III for my WIS/STR Buff.  I have WIS Hex Dolls and on every ocassion I was given the chance to improve WIS, I did.)</P>

<DIV>So nobody has any advice on what tradeskills are useful for monks to learn?</DIV>

<P>I don't think trade skills will have an effect on your monk.  I have mine cooking up drinks and food, but if only plan to play a monk with no alts then an alchy might be good since you could make some heal potions as if you get hit, you'll get hit hard.  Plus you can make your own CAs.  </P> <P>You'll want to get your gear from drops and questing so light armorer or weapon smith won't help you much, but you could make your self some master crafted stuff to get by till you can find/afford the good stuff.  So those trades may benefit you aswell...especially if plan to solo alot.</P><p>Message Edited by Gustuv Wynd on <span class=date_text>07-08-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:00 PM</span>

Tradeskill that you might find useful would be :- Tailor - So you can make your own armour. The normal stuff is ok and cheap for a quick fix until you gte better quested or rare items to make some mastercrafted ones yourself. Woodworker - To make your own weapons. Same as tailoring, normal stuff is ok when you get to new tiers. They also make the totems of which I swear by. Alchemist - Make all your own apprentice4 or adept3 abilities. Also make yourself those handy stat boosting potions Those would be the first three I would look at as a monk to make your life a little easier. <div></div>
