Hi all, I need some guidance my AAs. Im a 70 monk and always group with my wife (70 warden) and another (70 wizard). We trio pretty every night. Now normally we do fine but lately, 65+ the monk is starting to have a rough time.In the group buffed in defense stance I have about:7300 hp 3008 mitigation72% avoidance1432 attackstr 506agi 470sta 408I have been using a strife wing bo or 2 strifewing clawed fist.At this time I have my AAs across the top in agility, strength, stamina and wisdom. I am debating on going down a line now but unsure which. I have read that the strength line is good for DPS which is nice because I will never get fabled dragon weapons. Never get in raids and if I did there are 60 zillion others in line. So the extra DPS might be nice. Also I see some of the other lines have some defense, deflection and parry which are also nice. I would appreciate some advice on this.Thank ya much.

For a pvp monk that wants a mix of tanking/dps, 4/4/4/5 STA 4/4/8/8/1 INT has been the best setup for me. The final ability in the INT line is like being god vs. soloing names. Your char doesn’t really get good till your in the red then you just have to pop Tsunami and let all your ca's fly for crit hits. Then heal and when you’re back in the red let them fly again. You will find you can solo every named in SoS with this ability (if you know how to use it right) without any Raid gear. Of course if you don't know how to play your character and keep a mob stun/stifle locked then well no amount of aa's can help you out.

Message Edited by artophwar on 07-07-2006 05:22 AM

After I lucked-out and found a Staff of Flapping Wing on the broker for under 10p, I switched from unarmed (using the str/int/sta lines) to the wis/int lines. Currently I am sitting at wis 4-4-8-4-8, int 4-4-8-2 (last 3 points will go into parry in the int line). This is a grouping set-up that gives me a good set of AEs (I rarely tank as I have a level 70 Zerker alt for that and almost never duel). When I am hastened to 100%, Crane Flock (100% double-attack on all targets I am facing within melee range) is awesome. Having an additional 18% chance to crit from the intelligence line adds to the carnage. The only drawback is the 5 minute cooldown, but I find that goes quickly and it is usually available when I need it.

Combine that with Crane Twirl (passive 8% chance to inflict 500+ AoE damage), Crane Sweep (wis line), Crescent Strike (Master II) and Dragon Breath (frontal AE DOT) and I do a nice bit of damage to multiple targets.

That said, I may someday respect to get Eagle Shriek (the uber intelligence line end skill), however, since my current role is almost 100% group DPS, this wis/int set-up serves me really well--and is really fun as well (I love it in pick-up groups when I lay all my AEs on a group of mobs and seconds later "hear" everyone saying "WT** was that?" LOL).

Note of warning on Crane Twirl: remember to deactivate this when fighting in close proximity to non-agro mobs least you want uninvited adds. :smileyhappy:

Message Edited by Q'darious on 07-07-2006 08:37 AM
