OK lvl 29 monk here.Been using crushing weapon and i now would like to try out slashing and piercing but my lvl in those skills are very low(like 5 without stance). What is the most effective way to raise those skills.Right now i get the msg that i dont have the skill to use this weapon. Have a set of imbued fir fighting batons. thanx in advance for any info

Imbued fir fighting batons have been fixed in the last update and are now crushing. The only way you can get piercing and slashing skill up is to use weapons that are based on piercing or slashing, respectively. Use them against low green or grey mobs (^^^) so that you can hit them for a while without having to look for new mobs all the time.

Before the KoS release, monks couldn't use anything but crushing based weapons. The first slashing weapons I ever found were in KoS when I was level 67 -- up to that point I solely used crushing weapons. The slashing skill was easy to max though, just whop on mobs for 2-3 hours. Unfortunately I don't know about any weapons in your level range that are not crushing... unless they changed the handcrafted stuff that we can use.

Slashing skill seems easy to bring up, just use a slashing weapon. I have had trouble with piercing skill though. I have used piercing knuckles for over a week and my piercing skill stays the same. Crushing and slashing are maxed out though.

Am a lvl 67 Monk and have rotated through the various weapon skills for the last few levels and have not seen any movement in piercing. Anyone got it to max out?

Aye check the weapon bro will say crushing, piercing, or slashing. Then you can use the weapons to increase your skill in them. I didn't get to skill up slashing until KoS lol. :smileytongue:
Message Edited by scalzo on 06-28-2006 06:37 PM

Consider me really dense atm

I used a claw (+2 slashing) to bring up slashing skills. I had a piercing weapon (dumped it so not sure) (market/dual wield/piercing). It looked like a small dagger with a large handguard.

Does anyone have an example of a piercing skill weapon, since I apparently have never seen one.

Thanks

Wurmslayer has two different versions.

If you look directly under the stats in the left picture, it is a Staff and Two-handed crushing. The right picture shows that it is a Spear and Dual Wield Piercing.

All weapons should now have similar information on them.

Best way to up your skills would be in a group. Solo'ing and trying to raise the skill at least when it is very low doesn't work out very well. When I got wurmslayer I just kept it my bags until i went on a raid because trying to farm with a weapon you barely hit with kinda blows.
