Hey everyone. This isn't a nerf thread or anything like that... but rather the fact that I am just completely confused.I have a level 16 Assassin on Venekor, and I've been fairing pretty well in PvP so far... especially if I get the jump (which makes sense). Most of my fights have been very close and fair... and they often come down to the wire. So, the other night I see a level 16 monk and I decide to jump her.I ambush her, stun, re-stealth, ambush again, use my heroic, etc.She didn't even seem to know what was going on until I got a few hits in.Somehow she is still at about 95-100% health! All a sudden my vision goes blurry and lightning starts hitting me.I'm almost IMMEDIATLY down to a sliver of health and I am forced to run away.I fought this person 3 more times in that same night... 3 of the 4 fights involved me getting the jump on her... didn't matter what I did.. she would NOT go below 95-100% health and I was dying in literally about 3-5 seconds of time.I figured that Monk was twinked, cheating, something... I don't know... I figured it a fluke with this person.Until last night...I see a level 14 frog monk... 2 levels below me.I wait, sneak up, and WHAM! Amsbushes, backstabs, positionals, heroic's, etc.Half of them were parried and the other half pretty much did little to no damage on their HP bar.I unleash a flurry and the frog's health is still at 95-100%.Next thing I know, my vision is blurry, I'm being hit with lightning and within literally 3-5 seconds time my health is down to a red sliver.Again, I don't know if Monks are overpowered, and I'm not saying to nerf anything... I'm just seriously confused and frustrated.I've fought almost every other class in the game so far, and while some are tough, they have all been pretty fair fights. And as an Aassassin, if I get the jump I usually do pretty good. But these monks... I just don't get it. They were pretty much godlike.Any info, suggestions, or whatnot?

A monks weekness is magic damage (if no outward).

Another thing that could hurt us... is if you find a way to survive longer... because our power is horribly low.

Or really catching them by suprise ... double teaming... etc.

If you go head to head with a monk that has mend up.. as a scout.. you're going to lose. Unless you get a stifle/stun potion or something. It is not easy and will take alot of practice my friend.

Alot of our talent and utility is not seen in PVE servers... but PVP... bring it on.

Message Edited by Stryyfe on 06-21-2006 08:13 AM

Also notice how you are able to run away eahc time. The brawlers biggest flaw in pvp is the inability to catch runners and thier abiltiy to get away if they are in trouble. They are hard to kill though.

Yikes.I can't believe that I haven't been flamed yet, or told to "learn 2 play" or "get to level 60" or anything like that.I must be too used to those dreadful WoW forums...Anyways, thanks for the honest and straightforward replies, hehe.Looks like I have a new arch enemy.Funny... I was very close to becoming a Monk as my first character.

I play a level 54 Monk, and thought I was pretty proficient. However, PvP is a lot different than PvE. I got pwned by a level 50 Assassin. He invis'd attacked, ran away, reinvis'd, attacked etc. Took him a while, but by the time I could spin and attack, he was gone. A couple of times I could use my area attack, but boy was I taken to the bank. Maybe with practice I would come out on top. I did do a lot of damage with probably only two area attacks and one successful other CA. I would like to know a good strategy for this actually. I don't play on a PvP server, so I haven't done it much. What probably made me the most mad was being humbled by the experience. At the same time, its a valuable learning experience.
