Hello everyone, I'm new to EQ2 and I just had a few questions that I couldn't get a good answer from by just looking through the forums.Me and a friend are going to start playing today, and we'd like to have a good PVP duo between ourselves. He's planning on playing a Ranger, and I was planning on playing a monk, would this be a good team?I'm looking for a good DPS class that has some staying power in pvp fights. I considered playing an assassin becuase I know they have the highest mellee DPS, but was somewhat turned away from that since my friend will already have tracking skills, and other utilities of the scout class (i.e. stealth)Monk seemed like a good option to me since they have high HP, and (appears) to do good DPS.Are there any other classes I should consider? or ones that would better suit our team? I've considered casters (wizard) but I don't know how good they would fair in pvp, and it seems that having two low HP guys wouldn't bode too well in the long run of things. Thanks in advance!

Message Edited by AnotherAddict21 on 06-14-2006 12:57 PM

I think it could be a fine combination. I have a monk and duo with a ranger, but not at the same time (I have a dirge to go with the ranger). Monk is the only tank class with invis (windwalk) so if he gives you some advanced notice you could be much better at avoiding and/or getting the drop on someone. I'm assuming you meant swashie and not assasin since ranger is Q only, and I wouldn't rule out that combo either, as the ranger tracks invis while swashie track stealth, which makes for a good combo with the added benefit if you see something while he doesn't then you know it's a rogue class, and vice versa for invis. Also, while monk does have respectable dps, it is nowhere close to a rogue class (when Duo'ing anyway).

for pvp Monk and Ranger would be a great combo. Their both solid pvp classes.

But it would make more sense if you were a fury/ranger imo.

EQ2 has a cool little feature called assist.

You target your ranger friend - attack same target as him, if and when he takes damage you just hit the heal button.

For optimal set up - You need ranger for tracking/fury for heals.

I know that fury is supposed to be the most offensive healer out right? and I did consider playing that class, but i don't want to end up as a healbot for parties, and would like to do respectable DPS and be able to pve/pvp solo a little bit when he's not onlineI've seen in the Fury forums they complain about their solo abilties since they have no snare's, roots or something.
