View Full Version : Totally confused about how to rate a weapon
<DIV>In EQ1, I used to search website like Allakhazam and make a list of desirable weapon at each level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Played a monk to L30 in EQ2, I am totally lost.</DIV> <DIV>Currently I am using two legendary crafted L30 wrap fists (rating around 20) and I assume they are good at this level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no idea what kind of weapon I should look for afterwards.</DIV> <DIV>All websites I searched using (outdated?) weapon lists based on crushing/staff level instead of character level, and they are nowhere near complete.</DIV> <DIV>I searched forum, people were talking about weapons' damage changes according to your level... is this information obsolete as well? I've never seen this happens.</DIV> <DIV>I can't even find a list of good crafting weapons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And for weapon's rating, are they purely depended on DPS? or it counts those stats as well ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Say, I just purchased a L40 2H great hammer: </DIV> <DIV> Archons great Flail (Fabled)</DIV> <DIV>+12 str, +8 agi, +14 wis, +12int, +67 health, +69power</DIV> <DIV>Damage 52-155 </DIV> <DIV>Delay 3.8 seconds </DIV> <DIV>54.9 rating ( how do they get this number anyway?)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I spent 1.3pp on this weapon but I don't know how it rates against other weapons at that level, there aren't many monk weapons at Broker at all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any help will be greatly appretiated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Binbini</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>I'm too lazy to try to find out exactly what they are using to calculate the DR for a weapon...</P> <P>However, all you need to know is that equal damage rating will equal roughly the same DPS. For DW weapons just add the DRs together. That's pretty much all there is to it, other than picking the stats you want from a weapon. IE - some brawler weapons will have +parry, +deflection, or +defense which is a nice bonus.</P> <P>Easy enough if DPS is all you are worried about however, 2 handed weapons have a lot of strengths that aren't DPS related that DW weapons don't.</P> <P>Against a good PvPer with lots of reactive gear and buffs, a 2 handed weapon with high delay rules for example.</P> <P>Regards,</P> <P>Croaker</P>

I don't remember the exact formula, but the damage rating takes the average damage of the weapon against the delay of the weapon.A legendary crafted dual wield weapon of level 40 would provide:+20 between Strength and Agility (in combinations of +11 str, +9 agi)and a bonus of around 24 to 30 health and power each.with a damage rating of 28.2 or 28.8 (it was 28.something)Each weapon also had a 5% chance to proc 90-210 damage or so (I could be wrong, I'm going from memory, I don't use weapons anymore)So with two crafted weapons would provide about+40 total strength and agilityroughly the same bonus to health and powerand a rating of about 56.4 to 57.6And two procs. The bonus of your two handed weapon is fewer ripostes from the enemy, and everytime you do a riposte, the damage will be much higher.<div></div>

<P>DR is just 2 divided by the delay, and then multiply by the average damage.</P> <P>So in your flail example:</P> <P>2/3.8 = ~0.53 x 103.5 (avg damage) = ~54.855</P> <P>Listed was 54.9. Close enough.</P> <P> </P> <P>Procs are not factored into this DR by the way.. they are in addition to it.</P> <P>I used to think you could just add procs right into that equation, but since procs show real damage and DR is based on base damage, it's kind of hard to figure out how much more the proc really adds to the power of the weapon.</P> <P>I can estimate that you really do damage about 5 times the base damage listed at level 70 with a high strength score... I doubt that number is static over levels, but just using that to get theoretical numbers, procs would add even on the extremely high end around 5 DR to a weapon... normal procs would be around 2-3 DR. Which means it's not that huge a factor in determining power of a weapon.</P> <P> </P> <P>Take that info how you will. I still miss the good ol' days of seeing real damage along with the base damage. So what if it confused some folks out there, that's what DR was for. I'd like to see how high my damage can go! And really find out how much more powerful a weapon with a proc is for that matter.</P>
