I come from EQ1 as a vet Monk. I totally loved the class and when I moved here, it only seemed right to roll a monk. He was favorite character and lasted me for a good 3-4 years. Now, I have to admit that I have a great time playing my monk. I have to admit though that I am somewhat unsatisfied with our pvp abilities. Granted, I am only lvl 25 now, so much of the game I am still unfamiliar with maybe you could say, or I don't have my "Greatest" abilities. However, here are my general experiences thus far.I can win vs blues and such (SOLO ones), but if a bruiser comes along even 1 level higher, I can't seem to do any damage to him and he tears me up terribly fast. Then some of the time the guys around are 3-4 levels higher then me and it seems like I do no dmg to them. The rest of the time I get someone around my level I can do okay, but so far my record isn't good at all.Sure you could say, "Well get better weapons, equipment, and Spells then you'll do better." At my current level, my weapons are about the best thing I can see on the Broker, and my equipment is pretty good. Most of it is = or > then the Selwynn's quest armor. I feel a bit discouraged, so if any of you experienced monks have something enlightening to say, plz do because I dunno what I'm doing wrong.

Monks are all over the place on Venekor. I'd say they are the Qeynosian flavor of the month. To me that says they are overpowered. Granted I rolled up a swashbuckler there, but I have a Monk on Lucan, and I often tank without a healer for my guild, and we do well against yellow ^^^, on the other hand there are usually 2 to 3 DPSers with me, and I have to work at keeping agro from them. I'd say at 25 make sure you are using the right stance against the right opponent, and most of the time it's probably most important to know your enemy far far more than in PvE. Going up against a bruiser, wear him down use face of the mountain and defensive stance. Use your heal, and you'll probably need to let him use up his power. Going up against a healer, it's offense all the way, use your haste as much as you possibly can.Long term though being prepared before your fight will be most important thing by far. The people you are fighting are probably using totems and potions, the best equipment money can buy and probably have a LOT more time than you do to invest in playing, farming, grinding and spending their gold.Heh, not sure I'll go back to a PvP server, it's almost like a full time job to compete. If I do though, I'll turn off my exp until I can get a number of my skills upgraded to masters. Level doesn't mean everything when you can only fight people 8 levels different<div></div>
