Which do you guys choose throughout leveling? I noticed in a guide you can choose either like 2 or three times (I think). Do you guys go all power since we don't have much, or hp for tanking?

<P>power over HP</P> <P>Regen over raw power</P>

<DIV>DPS focused Monk - power regen</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tanking focused Monk - Max Health boost (Especially raid tanking or even offtanking - and Halls of Fate)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Mix - both are good choices, but power regen probably has the greater overall benefit to all situations.</DIV>

Same question, but I'm on pvp server, so for pvp battles what would you guys say; I took hp regen as my first choice, mistake? <span>:smileyindifferent:</span><div></div>

<DIV>I don't play on PVP, but I would imagine you want to do burst damage and kill your opponent fast. Max power pool would probably lend to this best... I can't imagine the fights lasting long enough that you'd see a significant affect from regen bonuses. You'll want to use all the arts you have and hope they're dead before you run out of power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This probably most true of one on one PVP, but I think it would still apply in group on group as well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Someone else may be able to advise better on this then me. I can remember a few times duoing some content with my Inq and a friend as tank where we ended up with zero power and me using my level 5ish heal to keep him -just- alive.. so a little regen can be helpful in the right situations..I guess what I am saying is sit down and think about the situations you are going to be in, and the ramifications of the various options and plan out what will be best.. even if its a tiny boost, its still a boost.</div>

<DIV>I have taken power regen when offered.  I had much internal debate about which to choose, but what tossed ME over the edge was that the power regen also makes crafting more efficient.  That broke the ties on the pros and cons for me.</DIV>

in combat power regen does stack with out of combat regen. so the regen trait would also help during crafting.I, however, did go for max hp. It is much worse when you run out of hitpoints than out of power. I can hold aggro and do dps without power, so i dont really need much of it.

<DIV>I would say HP, the HP, then more HP.  The gains from the +power pool/+power regen are so insignificant that you make up the difference in one or two ticks out of combat.  I've personally never had issues with power (even in a bugged 30 minute long epic fight), and the only times i get low is when chain pulling while tanking.  Our autoattack damage is good, and as long as you have your taunt proc buff up, you'll still hold agro well even if out of power.  However, if you ever run out of HP, you die.  My 2 cp.</DIV>

<P>If you don't play "the hero" against 3-4 level heroics, I say power, also if it is in your traits, you might get it in future levels too.</P> <P> </P>

<DIV>If you don't raid it doesn't really matter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I only use "1" power regen item with FT 1.  And I very very very very rarely have an issue with power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In XP and instance groups it's usually constant pulls with no rests for power even without a chanter or bard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I suppose more regen or more power might allow me to spam the mana ineffecient CA's for a very minor or negative boost to DPS, but used wisely you'll still parse where you are with much less power consumption.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And if you plan on raid, there is only really 1 answer, IMO.  Hps, Hps, and then even more Hps.  Every little bit of free hps you can get will help deal with whatever damage AE's are dishing out.  Granted you could always dodge AE's but that results in a loss of DPS.  A far greater loss than a small boost to power regen.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Heck on raids, with only 1 FT1 item, the only place where power even might start to worry me is in the Lyceum.  Hurricanus, pfft.  Lord Vyemm, pfft.  Gorenaire, pfft.  And stupid Talendor doesn't want to pop.  <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  So I suppose there's the possbility I "might" run out of power in DT.  <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now if I was a bruiser that would be a much tougher choice as their higher DPS CA's consume a tad bit more power than our CAs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That said, HPs all the way...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Although in most non-raid situations it doesn't really matter what you choose.  I have no issues with power when crafting either, rarely under 50% power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regards,</DIV> <DIV>Croaker</DIV><p>Message Edited by Sslarrga on <span class=date_text>05-01-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:28 PM</span>

Hmmm I still can't decide +hp% or power regen<div></div>

I went for health regen, I felt 5 was a good amount at low levels when compared to an extra 25 hp!  I am planning to switch this to health pool size with my veteran re-spec when I hit high levels, as I feel the balance will reverse itself. <div></div>

Max hit points and hit point regen power does you no good if youre dead. I just switched to this from max power and power regen with our haste eating hitpoints the regen is nice to have.   But im sure its not game breaking to pick one or the other do what you feel like doing.

<DIV>It really depends on your playing style.  I recommend power regen because with the Everburning combt line running your always going to be drifting back and forth on HP. I've found that in the end that extra bit of power comig back is what usually saves me more than anything else.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I look at my options like this</DIV> <DIV>Power Regen>HP%>Power%>HP Regen</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I love how this topic is just all over the place. I took power regeneration because HP can be replenished easier while in combat with a priest or by myself.<div></div>

<DIV>A larger HP pool helps more than anything else IMO.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>100 more power = absolutely Zero more DPS for me Solo, in Groups, or on Raids.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>10 more power regen means I gain back 100 power every minute.  Again absolutely no DPS increase for me Solo, in groups or on raids.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>10 more health regen = 100 hps every minute.  Everburning line consumes well over 100 hps every 6 seconds for me.  IE - it does me absolutely no good either in combat or out of combat.  I got more hp regen from Necklace of Mysterious Origins (16.4 per tick 164 per minute) and I stuck that in the bank ages ago because the hp regen from it was basically useless.  Especially now when I can self buff over 8k hps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Larger HP pool?  Better chance to survive AE's, better chance to survive solo, better chance to survive pulling aggro, better chance to live while tanking, and (for me) much better chance to survive on raids.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Then again maybe people find themselves in 5 minute fights quite often when soloing or in groups where regen might actually be meaningful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My advice - if you want regen get it from items.  For a melee class, HPS is almost always a better choice.  But as I said if you don't raid, tank or solo then it doesn't really matter what you choose.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regards,</DIV> <DIV>Croaker</DIV>

<DIV>Power regen doesn't add DPS, but what I find is that if I want to win a fight quickly and use lots of combat abilities, I will end a fight with a LOT more health than power.  Having the extra power regen helps, especially since good food is way way way way way way way cheaper than good drink.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>In a typical solo or group fight that lasts 30-60 seconds.  That means I'd regen 50-100 mana with 10 mana regen.  With 3702 power self buffed, that's a drop in the bucket.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At lower levels it might be useful, however, even then I'd advise people to go for the larger HP pool.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once combat ends I will regen that and more in 6 seconds.  With T7 drink I regen 259 power every 6 seconds out of combat.  No drink just subtract 105 from that.  So even with no drink I'd regen all the power back that I would have had from mana regen in 6 seconds after combat is over.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So if the fight lasted 3 minutes it'd actually take 12 seconds to regen the power back from 10 mana regen instead of 6 seconds.  <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It really isn't saving me a whole lot of time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In longer fights a case could be made for it, but even on raids where you are likely to get into the longest fights I wouldn't sacrifice HPs for mana regen.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Regards,</DIV> <DIV>Croaker</DIV>
