<div>Hey, I am new to monks and EQ2 in general. I was wondering if monks cost alot of money to equip between lvls 1-35 or so. Since this is my first character in EQ2 i want a class i enjoy but also wont be to heavy on my cash.</div>

You should be find with quested gear if your not too worried about every single detail at this early stage of your character development. I would buy some bare essentials to get by until you reach higher tier then focus on the better gear. But it all depends on you and what you want to do. Some people with ALT character pump a lot of money for their character in each tier from beginning to the end. Some don't. Some wait till they hit the higher tiers. Just depends really. I personally wouldn't worry too much with the gear until you get 40 if not 50. That's just how I'd do it. But another thing to keep in mind, go for the best mitigation and your life will be easier. =)Masuimi<div></div>

<div></div>Im looking for mainly do solo/dou pvp [Removed for Content] my friend also solo/duo pve. So,would i need to have really good gear to be able to do that?
<div></div>I primarily duo also and have done so as many different classes. Right now we are both playing monks (I had one, she just made one recently and has been catching up). For the most part, our gear is quested and dropped and we are doing very well and have been able to solo stuff almost as effectively as with our pally/fury duo (can't do quite as well in prolonged fights as we don't have nearly the amount of heals, but we still seem to be able to do quite a bit). All of our combat arts right now are also either app 4, adept 1 or master 2 in the case of the freebies, so we don't have anythign special in that area. Hope this helps. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />EDIT: Meant to say that we are on a PvP server and both our experiences have been very positive so far. Of the classes I"ve fought, the only ones that have given me trouble really are SK's, coercers (granted he was 6 levels higher) and furies. Even when getting jumped by assassins that are 2 or 3 levels higher than me, I can usually still manage to beat them or get them to turn and run. Our heal also cures poison, which can help quite a bit and we hold our own pretty well in small scale fights.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Xevik on <span class="date_text">04-06-2006</span><span class="time_text">01:20 PM</span></p>

I would suggest going STR/AGI, and go for the highest Mitigation Gear you can find. If you want to solo and such. I've focused on STR totally now when back when I was in my earlier tiers I was focusing on both STR and AGI. Now I'm totally concerned with STR. Might have to get someone else to input on this but I think you can solo just fine with STR as your main focus wihtout worring about AGI gear and such.Masuimi<div></div>

Str is the most important stat in my opinion as it increases your damage and power pool. Agi, I honestly wouldn't worry about too much because it's sooo easy to get and you will end up with a lot of it without even really trying. Also agility kinda levels off in its effectiveness and gets to a point where it takes a ton of it just to see a slight improvement. I would try to get STR first, then focus on STA/AGI both as the next most important stats. I'm not sure how effective wis actually is per point, but resists are also important to have, especially on a pvp server, if anyone knows exactly how effective it is, I would be interested to hear. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span><div></div>

I totally agree with that. Most of the STR gear has an AGI stat on it as well. They usually are complementing Stats. =)Masuimi</span></div>

<div></div><p>On the cheap Selwyn's armor quests in south qeynos followed by hammer's in zek can net you some nice quested armor for free. There's some nice quested jewelry that can be had at those levels, and that just leaves you to buy some decent weapons.</p><p>Once you hit level 40 you really wanna start looking for rare crafted gear.</p>

Monks IMO are very cheap, we aren't TOO worried about clothing and in fact for the monk look much of it has to be quested anyway.Keeping your spells good enough to be able to take on mobs relevatly well isn't too expensive and you can allways roll an alchemist to keep that side equipped on a budget.Which leaves weapons and IMO it's worth spending money on crafted rare ones. This DOES mean gold but if your a alchemist you can make a nice profit from extracts.

<div>It costs an arm and leg..</div><div> </div><div>Sorry, had to say that once <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> But seriously, beside having "shield" & "tome" expenses, rest of things you need to equip is same with any other fighter class so expense is same either.</div><div> </div><div>I don't think our armors being made of leather make it cheap, besides not really many leather armor drops (may be my luck, until Ro, I dont remember I looted anything beside plate and chain)</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>

PLUS we often wear gi, gi = quested normally = FREE.So we do the quests in the caves which gives us much of the armour we need to get to 20, then 20-30 is the AQ's, 30+ is either the Zek or EL quests, not sure if either give Gi but they do give a good set of leather.

<div></div>As cool as the Gi's look, in most cases they are not the best we can wear unless you have a Blood Drenched gi or the Gi of the Dark Diciple. For example I would not wear the Rujarkin or ashen gi when fighting.

Most Monks will wear gi, regardless of the stats, cos it looks right.

<div></div><p>The Blood Drenched Gi, Gi of Madness, Gi of the Disciple, Woven Vulcanized Tunic, Gi of the Dark Disiciple are all definately one of the best pieces of gear you can have for their appropriate tiers.</p><p>The Lonetusk Gi, Gi of the Silent Fist, Rujarkian Woven Gi, and Ghostly Wraps of Torment have respectable stats for the tiers they are in.</p><p>The Gi of the Ashen Disciple and the Gi of the Infernal do have by far subpar stats for their tiers.</p>

the level 12 ( not 10 ) Gi is fairly tough, solo your looking at 14-15 to get it BUT it's a very worthwhile series of quests.
