Hello Fellow Monkey's;

I recently hopped on the everquest 2 wagon and let go of my EQLive Monk, well my EQ2 monk is now up ad swinging making his way to level 10 today and I was looking for advice on the best places to go for solo exp since groups are looking somewhat dismal at the moment. Any quests that yield good gear would be helpful as well. Just looking for what will allow quick progression towards higher levels with somewhat decent rewards.

Thanks,

Weilian

Kithikor

Oakmyst forest has Bears that you can grind on safly to about lv 12. From there you will want to move onto Ant a tier two zone, if you enter it though the North qeynos entrance you can find some fields just outside the gate with lv 12 farmers and scarecrows that you can do to lv 13-14.

Now that you are lv 14 you should have a decent selection of attacks, be sure to upgrade your gear because contuining alone the road you will hit 13-15 wolves and bears. Down the road further they become up to 16-18 if you hit them before you are level 16 go back to the ealier ones. After that you can do undead by the KoS portal to about 20 and then Bear and Wolves west of windstalker village to 22.

After that you are in thundering stepps grouping should be no problem, try to hop onto a griffon group until about 25 and then move on up to a giant slaying group. (stormhold is also a excelent option if you want to do a dungon over just grinding)

Cool...that gives me a good start.

A couple more questions though:

1) At what point should I look into upgrading spells? I figured at this low of level and through the teens possibly early 20's that new upgrades would coming frequently enough where it wouldnt be cost effective to get big upgrades.

2)I know to level up a broad range of weapons (slashing, piercing, crushing) however should I focus more on 2h or DW for the majority of the time?

Thanks again for the info up to 25 if anyone knows where there is a link to a good leveling guide all the way up let me know. I am off for spring break next week and plan on attacking leveling full force =)

Thanks for the help again

Weilian, Kithikor

as far as upgrading your spells goes, if you plan to solo you'll want to try and keep as much as you can at at least adept1, this is the best way to go throughout your history, i would focus more on upping your stuns first, as this makes them harder to resist and therefore more likely to land on higher mobs. With regards to your weapon selection, it's entriely your choice, it's a topic of much debate over wether DW is better than 2handed etc, but overall they're pretty close to each other, 2h damage is countered by the speed of dw etc, just find what you're happy with in yourself and go with that.Groups are never easy as a monk unless your server has already learned that monks can tank/offtank/dps in which case you won't struggle too much later on.Hope this helps somewhat, try taking a look at the FAQ's at the top of the boards if you have time, they're an excellent source of all monkly info and will serve you well

My 2 cents on it is this:

People seem to go about it backwards. They think because they solo they need to find the highest level mob they can kill. That is not always best approach. I did that with my first character and it wasn't really all that fun, not too mention you spent a lot of time doing side things, like healing and getting mana back. Not to mention the dissapointement when nothing really nice dropped. So, second character I tried it different. Kill greenies, find the lowest ones you get credit for, and just slaughter the hell out of them. Now, here is key... Loot everything...i mean everything you can get your mouse click on and sell it too vendor and head right back out to slaughter more. Seems simple enough right? Side note: when going on the kill spree make sure you have GOOD drink/food and make sure you have Spirit Totem of (depends on level) to regen your health and mana. These are a must!!! I usually keep two of each. Here are benifits:

1. Lot more money to buy the better gear you really want.

2. Exp is not much different, you compensate for the per kill experience with the amount you kill.

3. Find better loot more often. I mean do the math, if you get 5 drops and its a 25% drop rate, you get 1 maybe 2 items. If I get 50 drops and a 25% drop rate, I end up with 12-13 items. More items, means more money, means more gear, means more killing.

4. You can try different tactics without risking an exp loss.

5. Should be able to kill at least 3 at time without risk of being killed otherwise find an easier target. Mobs are different for each class. But some are general for most classes.

1-6

Message Edited by Energymover on 03-09-200610:55 AM

once you hit lvl20 I would recomend doing your armor quest as it gives some nice gier that can carry you into the 30s. Also around lvl 20 your CAs will start upgrading on a 14ish lvl cycle meaning you get a replacement spell every 14 lvls or so. Now you will contnue to get new spell lines in each Tier and once you get those they will also be on the 14 lvl cycle(not shure on the DoF/KoS spells as I don't beleave you get any of them at a lvl low enought to get the second in the line). If you solo I would upgrade your Stuns then the Darting line(the 6hit attack) as this is one of your biggest hitters. If you plan on Tanking with your Monk then keeping your Taunts(including the Dragon Line) at Adept1+ is a MUST as we only have those three hate generators.
